EverydayJesus hangs out with the Father!

A friend said and I quote, “to be much for God we have to be much with Him”.

Going through a piece recently, I realized something, that as much as we want to study books that expound the word of God, we might never have faith to do mighty things if we neglect to hang out with the ‘One’ who is the Word. The Spirit and Life.

Jesus Christ said, the words that I speak to you they are spirit and they are life. He was talking about himself. The words Jesus spoke as man were no different from the words God speak as God, in efficacy and power, reason being that the same power was at work in them.

And now Jesus had a habit of hanging out with the Father. Bible tells us he would go out of his way to climb a hill just so he could be alone with God. Little wonder then, that he had confidence enough in the power of his Father at work in him. He would say to the dead, rise, and he would say to the lame, walk.

So, spending time talking with God is key to doing much in his name, because of course, you’ll be conscious of his power enough to do his works. Cut a long story short, studying the Word, gets you to know what’s been given freely and gets you conscious of the power that has been made available for you to walk in all that’s been given. Hanging out with God gives you an opportunity to thank God immensely for all He’s given.

EVERYDAYJESUS is our Curriculum

If I Give Tochi a bag of Gold and put scorpions inside,

So that when she puts her hand inside the bag the scorpion bites her, then on her death bed ‘I had staged to meet Courage in a burning bush’ then Courage tells Tochi I can save her and she brings me and I heal Tochi, and she gives me praise.

Later, they got to find out I was the one who put the scorpion in the first place, would that make me a good person??

NO!!

Don’t be afraid to ask ‘God-questions’ on scriptures that contradict what you have come to know about God and get a thinking CAP, I have one and I use it.

You have to know God from Jesus,

It is so so so so so IMPORTANT in understanding and interpreting scriptures.

If you don’t look from Jesus, you are sure to miss it.

And also, these questions help you understand that some words used in verses of scriptures actually teach something entirely different and we lose focus because of what our minds have been programmed to.

I always emphasize reading in context.

2days, ago in a discussion with someone I told her she would not make heaven, who am I?? Jesus’ gate man??

But it was in an argument to show her what she was doing to herself.

If you take that word out of the context and say that I said that someone will not make heaven.

You would be lying against me, but you would also have ‘scriptural backing’ for it.

Since birth, you have learnt the use of English, then you got better and more skillful with it.

Yet we don’t try to put half as much effort in studying scriptures that much.

Its in Reading that it becomes clear and established in your heart,

Teaching might open your eyes a bit, but when faced with a person who has also been taught wrongly, you ll realize that checking it and establishing it from scriptures would have done you a lot of good.

I have a disciple who is very zealous, when I teach her, she goes out and mention it, then sometimes she gets hacked and return with disappointment, I give her answers to those ‘hackings’, why??? Because what I taught her is just a tip of what I have studied on that topic.

NOBODY can teach u everything they know. But you can know everything your teacher knows, by reading what He reads

If you have seen me handle scriptures and you admire it,

Let me tell you the things I used in order of priority

*the King james Bible

*an APP with 27 different Translations

rarely *Greek concordance to check root words (but when I do this I come back to establish it in the scripture)

I have found root words that confuse more self,

So I stay safe in scriptures and scriptures alone.

I have also read books of people that bless me deeply

Kenneth Erwin Hagin is one of them

I love him so much that there is hardly a book of his on print that I don’t have

I go hungry and trek just to get his books at times

BUT, I hack him always with scriptures.

I have seen him misinterpret a verse in the bible.

And he himself has admitted to doing so before, he repented (sincerity)

So it comes back to one book

THE BIBLE.

Read it, read it and keep reading.

Let me say something I don’t usually say because its nobody’s business

I HAVE NEVER GONE THROUGH THE WHOLE BIBLE ONCE.

It means I haven’t read the whole bible before

I know people that do it at least once every year, he is my friend, and I teach him.

When I pick the bible to read, I read it.

I have been on Paul’s letter to the Thessalonians and the book of John 7-11 for days now

I found them particularly interesting

Paul spoke well of Christ’s coming to the Thessalonians

And then many things in John 7-11 is not recorded in other gospels.

So I get curious,

WHY???

These things don’t come from doing morning devotion and running off.

I don’t like being hacked in scriptures, it is important that I know about this eternal life I have gotten

And before you brush it off as ‘Their thing’

I got saved in 2010 and got to know about God’s grace barely a year ago, August last year to be precise

So it hasn’t been a year yet

How much growth you can see in a little time depends on time given to scriptures

If it is the morning devotion, don’t make it a routine, learn something,

Tackle questions that come up

Don’t brush them off

This life we have been called to is important

Just pray for understanding,

Pray and study, then pray again

Ask questions, keep at it

Paul gave Timothy a recommendation that I want to have someday

2Tim 3 NLT

14But you must remain faithful to the things you have been taught. You know they are true, for you know you can trust those who taught you. 15You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus.

From Childhood, Timothy have known and has been taught scriptures.

Please do same

You grow.

Take a ‘knowing God’ habit to scriptures

So when you are knowing a person, you can be sure what he can do and what he can’t do. If you find him exhibit two directly contrasting characters and you leave it

You have not known Him. Or let me say you have not come to take knowing Him serious.

For a believer, you find answers to life’s troubling questions from scriptures

You know things to believe and things to cast out @ first glance from scriptures

Hear what Paul told the Thessalonians

2Thess 2 NLT

1Now, dear brothers and sisters, let us clarify some things about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and how we will be gathered to meet him. 2Don’t be so easily shaken or alarmed by those who say that the day of the Lord has already begun. Don’t believe them, even if they claim to have had a spiritual vision, a revelation, or a letter supposedly from us. 3Don’t be fooled by what they say. For that day will not come until there is a great rebellion against God and the man of lawlessness is revealed-the one who brings destruction.

4 He will exalts himself and defy everything that people call god and every object of worship. He will even sit in the temple of God, claiming that he himself is God.

Focus on verse 2

……. 2Don’t be so easily shaken or alarmed by those who say that the day of the Lord has already begun. Don’t believe them, even if they claim to have had a spiritual vision, a revelation, or a letter supposedly from us.

Even if they claim to have had a spiritual vision.

But that is all the church knows about the second coming;

Visions of earring and trouser, and short skirts and tattoos

….and trumpet almost blown and Jesus shows His hands and God gives us time

Did the world get better after that?? NO

It grew worse

CHURCH THINK.

Hear Paul’s admonition to Timothy

I would show you this, and then show you how Paul did full time ministry

I don’t know why am saying all this but I think young ministers are here, take care on how you run…… Let’s hear what Paul told timothy

2Tim 3 NLT

1You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. 2For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. 3They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. 4They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God.

It goes on…..

5They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!

6They are the kind who work their way into people’s homes and win the confidence of vulnerable women who are burdened with the guilt of sin and controlled by various desires. 7(Such women are forever following new teachings, but they are never able to understand the truth.)

It gets interesting…..

8These teachers oppose the truth just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses. They have depraved minds and a counterfeit faith.

9But they won’t get away with this for long. Someday everyone will recognize what fools they are, just as with Jannes and Jambres.

Then the admonishing

10But you, Timothy, certainly know what I teach, and how I live, and what my purpose in life is. You know my faith, my patience, my love, and my endurance. 11You know how much persecution and suffering I have endured. You know all about how I was persecuted in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra but the Lord rescued me from all of it. 12Yes, and everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.

13But evil people and impostors will flourish. They will deceive others and will themselves be deceived.

Now see Paul’s ministry

1Thes 2 NLT

1You yourselves know, dear brothers and sisters, that our visit to you was not a failure. 2You know how badly we had been treated at Philippi just before we came to you and how much we suffered there. Yet our God gave us the courage to declare his Good News to you boldly, in spite of great opposition.

3So you can see we were not preaching with any deceit or impure motives or trickery.

4For we speak as messengers approved by God to be entrusted with the Good News. Our purpose is to please God, not people. He alone examines the motives of our hearts.

See how they showed themselves as men approved of God:

5 Never once did we try to win you with flattery, as you well know. And God is our witness that we were not pretending to be your friends just to get your money!

6 As for human praise, we have never sought it from you or anyone else.

7 As apostles of Christ we certainly had a right to make some demands of you, but instead we were like children among you. Or we were like a mother feeding and caring for her own children.

8 We loved you so much that we shared with you not only God’s Good News but our own lives, too.

……Examples worth emulating, it goes on

9 Don’t you remember, dear brothers and sisters, how hard we worked among you? Night and day we toiled to earn a living so that we would not be a burden to any of you as we preached God’s Good News to you. 10 You yourselves are our witnesses and so is God that we were devout and honest and faultless toward all of you believers. 11And you know that we treated each of you as a father treats his own children.

In your ministry, the choice to put God first or your belly first is yours.

Its not in the message with mouth, it is in the doing.

It is not out of place for the minister to also be the one giving people money seeing that they don’t have.

I say this now and I imagine

It is not out of place for Cedars to be the one giving honorarium when they are invited by a people who don’t have much.

Work and have money to do your ministry with…

Let me stop talking,

Stay in Grace.

EverydayJesus can figure it out!

So on this particular day, I was to help my mum get to her car and to work as quickly as possible. As is our culture, just before she started the car I lifted the hood of the car to check the water and oil levels and refill if necessary. As I concluded this very easy task, I hesitated for a moment before I shut the hood and just stared at the engine and in that moment I noticed how confused I was at the complexity of a car’s engine. Sure I knew the names of one two things and maybe I could guess the functionality of a handful of some of them but on the whole, I was just clueless.

Before long mum joined me at where I stood looking at the engine, a perplexed look on her face. I smiled. I quickly shared my mind’s rumblings

“You know if a mechanical engineer were here he would know what he was looking at when a car’s hood popped not like confused little me but if I were to open my editing soft wares for that engineer he would be as confused too”(paraphrased)

I guess I added that bit about my soft wares to boost my self-confidence but as mum zoomed off to work, the thought lingered and I have now come to this conclusion…

Sometimes we take a look at our lives: Who we were, who we are and who we could be and we indeed get confused. We end up with questions like…

How did I get here?

Can I really achieve my dreams?

Would I live to see tomorrow?

Does my life mean anything?

What is the point in living?

Amongst many other mind-boggling questions…

As real and valid these questions are, I have good news. JESUS has got the answer. Is it because he is as much God as God is? Well, probably yes, but even more; because he is the engineer, specialist, professional that knows all there is to know about you, down to the number of hairs on your head.

So when he looks at all the events, people, memories, emotions, wishes and all that makes up the totality of you, he doesn’t get confused. In fact he knows everything and if you let him he can figure out the answers to those questions you have. Just like you take your car to the mechanic for repair, taking your life to Jesus is what you need to live free and happy and blessed every day. I guess that’s why they call “giving your life to Christ” although in the real sense it is him, Jesus that gave his life for you.

So for no charges at all, get your problems sorted out and your questions answered because every day Jesus figures it out.

“…But the very hairs of your head are all numbered”- Matthew 10:30(KJV)

EverydayJesus is pro active!

One of my personal heroes is my Dad. Now he might not be perfect and yes he does not scale buildings, shoot webs from his palm or even wear a cape but from him I have learnt a bunch which has been key in my formation as a man. One of the main lessons I learnt just by observing him is how he tends to act ahead of time. Rather than dealing with a problem, Dad would prefer to forestall the problem. This doesn’t mean he would chicken out if a problem showed up but I think he figured it would be a lot cheaper and less stressful and ever more effective to prevent the problem. Guess what? He is right!

Looking through the scriptures, I see my Jesus would meet up with problems and solve them, but more importantly his words and actions pointed to a pro-active character, just like God-the-father. I mean isn’t it obvious that Christ died many years ago to save a world that would burn many years later. His mission in totality is pro-active. More so, if you looked through the scripture in search of guidance or instruction or have learned to listen to that sweet small voice of the lovely Holy Spirit you would agree with me that God is in the habit of directing us through actions that would seem pointless now but would mean the world in the future.

There are so many stories that I could give of present day events just like the story of Jeremiah’s instruction of God to buy a certain plot of land and collect the title deed and bury somewhere which was later used in recent times to settle a land dispute amongst nations. Crazy, right? However, here is a claim that this line of thought doesn’t agree with: “Experience is the best teacher”. Well, I think Jesus would disagree because discipline would pay better and guess what you never have to carry scars that way!

So be like Jesus. Be pro-active

Grace.

EVERYDAYJESUS’ Eagle story (the original full story)!

Whew, writing a project on my topic, under my supervisor, with my exact mix of colleagues, in my department, in my school, as me, just to get awarded with the very same degree that I am working for, is one of the hugest things ever in my little white eyes. C’mon, I was to collect some human breast milk samples from African Nigerian ‘woman beings’, and do some technical nonsense on them, my God!
Every single material I needed for the technical nonsense was ready but every single ‘maternity’ help- as in milk donor ran into thickets, leaving me behind with just promises only good enough for me to pass the far spent time with.
Every day, as the bomb ticking time made me uneasy, Jesus told me the family story of the Eagle, and the truths in it kept me alive in the lonely, scary, hand- tied moments, that could make a supervisor such as mine to lose faith in you. ‘The Eagle story’ however became ‘My Story’ because I soon discovered that the story gave me a starting point for carrying out my project ‘Eagle style’.
Soon my entire work was done in roughly fourteen days and was ready too for final assessment preceding defense just like the rest of the students. Mouths started wagging (I guess), because at least one girl’s mouth in my group murmured out loud (MOL), and I heard it. Surprisingly, I found myself saddened by the girl’s ‘MOL’ especially when I remembered the sequel of other sad things that my supervisor put me through that same day, prior to the ‘MOL’. In fact she said that she did not see any reason why some people have their project ready in two weeks whereas every other person was still struggling to be done after two months. I knew she was referring to me because she said that just immediately after asking me if I was done- with a generous dose of all the sarcasm a woman her age can muster.
That night, while I ruminated over the events of the day, the Lord brought to my remembrance that story that kept me, and instructed me to give the news flashes of it to anyone who confronted me with a mouth that chooses to ‘MOL’ all day long
The Eagle and the rest faced the very same hostile air current. The rest beat the air with all her might and was rewarded with a mouthful of balance just good enough to take her best to the height of a great iroko tree. The Eagle on the other hand, spread her wings with that effortless swagger that can sweep Cleopatra off her feet. Soon, her wings spoilt her to a bounteous treat of a flight that mounted her
gracefully on a cliff miles higher than the highest point on Everest’s hill. There, she made her nest, sat in peace to at least relax with the thought of a piece of meat.
This is the difference between the races and medals of they that trust in the Lord, and that of they that trust in human efforts.
“Do you not know”?
“Have you not heard”?
“The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint”. –ISAIAH 40: 28-31 (NIV).

Quiet Impact

(Dedicated to all those of quiet impact)

She dosent talk, she dosent post, she dosent shout.
He comes in, works it and walks out.
No flashlights, no spotlights, yet he’s the light and all dark eyes know.
No celebration of her name, no serenade for her fame, no declaration of her day, only the ovation of spirits, only the recognition of Abba.
No stickers bear his name, no posters carry his face, yet every touched heart knows his hands, every bruised skin knows his balm.
Not loved widely but ever so deeply, she carries the burdens of a hurting generation and the secrets of a battered heart and to her grave will they go with her.
Hoping for the the tiny lens of heaven, for the cameras of Hollywood ever so flashy overlook him.

No streets bearing her name, no cult chanting her fame, no frames for generations to know her face, yet purer heart has not this earth seen, a more loving soul this world has never hosted, she gives her best and keeps what’s left, animals call her kind, strangers pray for him, beggars know her name, prisoners remember his song.
His works carry no credits, her works bear no copyright, she just keeps working right and walking right through stony hearts, for she is wright. A flat character in her own story, yet acting round all heart, for an audience of One. She may not make history but she’s already part of His-Story.

What is the payment of a pure heart? what is the award for a sacrificial soul? what are the wages for a selfless life? it exists, just not to be found in this world. So he’s looking forward to the city who’s builder is God, from where he derives his citizenship, she’s longing for His recognition, Him for whom she lives and breathes.

So ignore the quietness and keep on the impact, and should the world ever take note, carry on all the same, don’t stop here, you cant stop here.
