AN UNMASKED FOE

beat
Watch out comrades! I cried in a loud shrill,
Clinching in alarm as everything came to a still
Comrades catapulted into throes of battle,
Ready to settle a score with an enemy
But alas, into d garland of fools we marched
And no one was found in sight.
Like a bad dream, day diffused into a terrific night.
Weapons clashed, glittering tears as we soared in a castle of fear.

Fighting in an ocean of anguish, we languished.
The enemy unseen and unknown struck our souls…
And we were left for the bitter rhythm of defeat to console.
Lead on our heads, sears across our hearts
In just a moment… we were held captive.

We could fetter not d clanging chains that made us inactive.

Gazing bleakly, I saw d spirit of my comrades drop dead! Piling into a storey.
I sent heaven a prayer garnished with a bitter story

It was a battle distorting our minds, a raving war of no mere kind
We retreat by morning, accompanied by piercing echoes of mourning
Like an orphan in a deserted city, I cried “Abba Father! Expose our enemies!”
When d foe was identified, it left us greatly stigmatized
Crawling like ants; we craved desperately to hide our shame…
Because it dawned on us a taunted woe
When our sins were unmasked as the ugly foe.
