I = LIFE

It came in a flash like some Allen knew exactly what was on my mind.

In the midst of 2 strangers in a BRT bus, one looked like another normal guy, and the other like a boss.

*Lagos my location, but I had thoughts in heaven.
So I felt heaven on earth, well that’s what you get for being in Him.

Have you ever wondered how lovely it would be to spend a whole day without bad mouthing anything, anywhere or even anyone?

Like No…
Bastard; playfully said
or
Fool; with a lovely pat on the head

No…
‘You will never amount to anything’ from a mother to a child and perhaps;

No pastor would lead a congregation of well meaning followers to a battle ground that makes a post of ‘deaths to whoever’ and then tag God in prayers like he was a supporting cast in this horror movie on a steady loop in their mind.

But they don’t see it,
We don’t see it,
I mean how black can a heart get before truth can no longer wash it?

I wish we can all set a day apart;
A day when we will all agree to rather trade punches than hurt with our words

A day when we will be focused enough to not let any slippery dark word go unapologized.
A day when we stop using these black knights to bat men, but rather;

Step into the light and use white to bathe them.

A day, when we master love
Then We try a week,
Then a month;

And soon it becomes abnormal and weigh a thousand tons on our lips whenever we try to muster the courage to plant a word that will grow into a scary tree from these our mustard seeds.

So I decide daily, surely, purposely;
I choose to believe differently
To fight differently
To speak differently
See differently

And actually stop playing the devil’s hate game with him.

Since we are buddies, let me play a little with God;
For I am in Him
And He is in me
Heaven in *Lagos;
LIFE!

I will be that one drop of oil that will float above stormy waters.
I will fight alongside anyone I can, till my heart goes silent with its beats.

It’s who I am, it’s what I give,
LIFE!

*Lagos is a major city in Nigeria.

You heard it from me!

Hey there, my name is Favour Omeje and I write.

I have known the joys of writing especially wielding my pen to summon words together to tell the love story of ‘the Word’=Christ.

Writing has been to me like lending readers shoes to walk back and forth time to experience what good things, I have experienced in Christ; simply put, writing has become like a kiss and tell story.

Soon enough, I got signed up to the Christ A Poet team where I was given a loud voice to express my Christian experience. It was there that I took a dip in excellence and team spirit. Christ A Poet  Team provided different platforms for people like me who love to read and write to gain writing prowess while telling the Lord’s story in diverse translations. One of such platforms is the Freestyle Friday.

Freestyle Friday is boundless needless to say.

This is how we do it:
We gather virtually on our social media platforms where a theme is dished out; then we all do justice to it using the different forms of literature available to man.

This time, we want you to share in the experience that we have enjoyed exclusively as team mates for years and you don’t have to be committed to us to enjoy this.

Just follow the link and request entry!

Do you love to read?

What about write?

Then you don’t want to miss this fun. You can take my word for it!

A good time as any…

Permit me to sound like an old man for a bit…

Young-uns where y’all at!
This is for you

I don’t know about you but I find myself wondering when I see my fellow youths and teenagers doing absolutely nothing as compared to who they could be and what they could be doing. I wonder why we claim YOLO all over the place yet we pack all our mistakes into our youthful days and leave the big stuff for later. Whoever has lied to my generation!

I too believe that all we truly have is the present (no puns intended), I too believe we should live our youthful days to their full but I am also conscious of what content they are filled with.

I mean, why can I not start making big decisions now, why can’t I start making impact now? Whoever said I cannot be wise while the hair on my head have not yet fallen grey? Whatever is stopping me from investing in my future, from planting my feet in the sands of time now? Like, would it really hurt if I decided to start being responsible now?

Why wait?

Seriously it is a mind boggling question!

Do you have a dream, go out there and achieve it. If you are not constructively doing something about that dream now, trust me, whatever stands in your way now, would still be there in the next 10 years, so why not give your fears a serious beating down, now that you have got all that youthful strength and vibe in your bones.

Make big decisions! Now! Don’t wait till you have a past of scars and regrets so that you can say I have been there. Trust me it ain’t worth it. If we all had to make the same mistakes, technology would never have seen the light of day. We learn from the mistakes of others and when we fault from ours as well.

Guys, we have so much to offer the world, so much potential so much light… and what it is even more epic is when we step out of our comfort zones there is space for us all in the sky to shine as stars.

Yes it will take a lot of work
Yes it will mean missing out on some fun
Yes it will not be comfortable
Yes it will hurt real bad sometimes
Yes we will still make mistakes no matter how hard we try
Yes life and those we love will sometimes not be on our side

But if we are truly the greatest generation to have come along, then lets live up to it and be awesome. It has always been in us

DO IT NOW
BE AWESOME NOW

Tag a friend, share with the world and please be awesome

Now!

BEAUTIFUL SUBSTANDARD

You ever noticed how adorable the girl looked when she smiled whose face is so freckled or pimpled?

You ever noticed how cute it was watching that poor family happily eat together of the same plate?

To the ladies…

You ever noticed how loving the guy was who never met a single quality on your checklist? Or how handsome the guy looked when he cried?

You ever noticed how simply beautiful that old ignorant woman was who kept talking superstitions with so much confidence and good intents that you couldn’t help but smile?

You ever realized how perfect those scattered eyelashes or uncarved eyebrows can be?

You ever saw how admirable that poor little boy was when he acted out a deed of love?

You ever saw the ease with which little children of different races bonded on first meeting?

Did you ever take a moment to notice…

You see the problem is we think we need to be perfect to be happy, but no, we don’t and we cannot. We don’t need to be perfect to be happy neither can we be no matter how hard we try. The one thing that connects us is the fact that we are humans, we were created to be family. We all hunger for that sense of belonging, and desire love that is real, unconditional and unfailing.

Love is the answer… it is that which binds  us, it is the one thing that can make us stop struggling so hard to belong,  to be noticed and to be considered better than others. It is the one thing that will make us stop jumping into  conclusions,  criticizing and judging others but rather hearing the full story and making fair decisions.

It is the one thing that will keep us from being biased in our dealings with people of varying tribe, race or religion, class or background, political party or mindset.

It is the one thing that will enable us see everyone as who they are-humans- first before what they are!

It will enable us know that we are all equal and that no one is better off because we all fall short..only in different ways.

Love will enable us live happy lives in the midst of imperfections. A life of happiness is the one we live when we keep our lives simple, improving on the things we can do, our strengths and using them in the service of others faithfully.

True love makes a perfect world. It deletes all imperfections and pastes beauty. It  makes a  show of standard, proving neither perfection nor standard to be happiness but rather happiness in substandard is what yields perfection.

However,

True lasting love is not natural. We cannot produce that lasting love by our broken selves but we know one who can because He is whole and He is love.

We know someone who can amend our imperfect world with love because He amends our hearts. It was necessary that he started with our hearts because the brokenness of the world around us is only a reflection of the brokenness of our hearts. He has shed love abroad in the hearts of those who accept his arm of fatherhood.

When He walked on earth as a man called Jesus, we knew Him to live, love and show happiness.

We knew him to have been born in an average home  of a carpenter and his dear wife.

We knew him to see perfection in an old woman who gave a few coins as her offering.

We knew him to see perfection in children of different backgrounds.

We knew him to see perfection in a woman who the society had condemned.

We knew him to see perfection in a disciple and friend (Peter) though impulsive and undecisive..

We knew him to see perfection in crying women who had lost their brother, his friend.

We knew him to see perfection in a short “sinful” taxcollector.

We knew him to see perfection in a  man who died a criminal beside him on a cross.

He, Jesus can give us the ability to truly love. He can give us the ability with which we can heal our broken world. He came, died and rose so that all who believed in this could be one with Him, partake in his nature and have him as their representative before God, he came to give us his nature of eternal life and love.

EveryDayJesus- ‘Who can be Mad?’ (an Update)

Who can be mad?

I am just not speaking of mad, as in mad in love. I mean who has a right to go about in his full original birth dress, pretending or maybe claiming that he is the only true son of Adam left, enjoying the Eden that only him can see in a garbage heap, and really hoping to find the bone of his bone and the flesh of his flesh in the same pile of ‘Eden’- and probably determining in his heart not to let his Eve lure him into eating anything that will open his eyes and show him what he is not wearing because he is ADAM MAN (an anagram of A MAD MAN). So who has a right to be called A MAD MAN simply because that is the best title befitting him?

Well, writing this particular article was to me a kitchen experience which involved fixing up a delicious meal that I think you might not be able to resist. Therefore if you permit me to call it a good meal then you might also like it well served- three course:

I would love to, and I am presenting before you a buffet of sumptuous platters of a ‘who-can-be-mad’ appetite whetting, mouthwatering antique thin soup of English, French, Italian, and may be Spanish cuisines, aka juicy and savory antique quotes on MADNESS for you to do justice to- mercy me, no, mercy you!

  1. What is madness?

“To have erroneous perceptions and to reason correctly from them”- Voltaire (1694-1778), French writer/philosopher.

  1. “A source of strong emotions and terrifying images which it arouses through fear of the Beyond, Catholicism frequently provokes madness; it generates delirious beliefs, entertains hallucinations, leads men to despair”- Michel Foucault (1926-1984), French philosopher.
  • “A body seriously not in equilibrium, either with itself or with its environment, perishes outright. Not so a mind. Madness and suffering can set themselves no limit”- George Santayana (1863-1952), Spanish-born U.S philosopher, poet and novelist.
  1. “Although …a societal reaction might pressurize an individual… into becoming an outcast, delinquent or rebel, it is difficult to imagine how a similar reaction would force him to adopt the central schizophrenic syndrome”- John K. Wing (1923- ), British psychiatrist. Lecture, University of Vienna.
  2. “King Madness in great ones must not unwatch’d go”- William Shakespeare (1564-1616), English poet and play wright. Hamlet, Acts 3, scene 1.
  3. “And something’s odd- within me- that person that I was- and this one- do not feel the same- could it be madness- this?- Emily Dickinson (1830-1886), U.S poet. ‘The First Day’s Night Had Come’
  • “ A man goes far to find out what he is- death of the self in a long, tearless night, all natural shapes blazing unnatural light”- Theodore Roethke (1908-1963), U.S poet. The Far Field, ‘In a Dark Time’.

You might also like this platter, African, savory, but recent

“Madness is one of the offspring, in fact the son of old age of the old man christened ‘Wrong Believing’- Nneoma Favouromeje (alive and well, duh!), the girl who is hell bent on making poor you read about ‘ who can be mad’- of all things.

  1. Main course

Enjoy the fun and thrill in finding out the continental origin of this cuisine- only by eating it completely.

Madness in my one eyes, is just that sickness which has its own etiological agent ( disease causing agent) being ‘wrong believing- well I am so sorry that I see microbiology in almost anything, I might still change if you give me enough time to, and not give up on me too.

The different forms of madness present similar if not exactly the same signs and symptoms as do the different forms of demon possession talked about in my Bible. So if you do not mind, I would be so glad to deduce that madness is equal to and equivalent to demon possession. Also, demons are not necessarily just things that appear to take the forms of living things, and which find themselves unfortunately denied of bodies to live in. For me, demons wrap themselves up in wrong belief systems, in destructive words, and they effortlessly make their ways into human minds through both the ear and eye gates. These wrong beliefs come with direct or indirect contact with infected people just the same way that viruses and other pathogens do. Therefore, viruses and bacteria are to influenza, HIV, and meningitis, what wrong believing is to bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and panic disorder. The basic difference is that wrong believing produces mental illness while viruses and bacteria produce body illness. The funny thing is that, with gradual increase in severity of madness, ADAM man might inflict damage on himself, the demon possessed people in the Bible usually cut themselves with sharp things just in the same way that a mentally deranged man on the streets, or better still in a psychiatry, would himself, or just as how any boy on the lower pole of his manic-depressive disorder would love to feed sumptuously on the thoughts of committing suicide. Sometimes, mad folks enjoy the thoughts of harming other people as their most fancy daydream- so if you are not planning to take authority, just stare clear, don’t say nobody told you. In fact, Jeffery Dahmer planned his ‘17 men in one day’ killing spree, more intricately than I am planning my future ‘home sweet home’, or even more delicately than Dr Carson planned his hit Binder twin surgery, okay?

Madness is not more or less than the outcome of poor believing. If Dennis believes that only he has to dutifully pay for every dime of his wrong doings, then he has succeeded in catching a reticulate ‘Chlamydia’ because when you hear that he hung himself in his room and left behind a note on his bed written “NOW YOU ARE FREE OF ME BECAUSE I DENNIS HAS PAID THE VERY LAST PENNY OF THE MENACE” you will know that the condensing ways of the matured elementary bodies in his head are way past finding out. It would be so sad then, because he was sorely terrorized by the sum of them, and painful shall his passing be.

You see, madness is the obvious outcome of the mental harassment unleashed by demons, as mind-teasing as the word ‘tease’. In fact, madness is the name of the cry you hear when a mad man believes, and is mentally harassed, humiliated and molested by demons which present themselves as ugly nauseating buffets of lies diligently cooked up by the only Chief Executive Chef of lies that I know of, Lucifer.

  1. Dessert.

I think everyone needs some generous dose of sugar loving here and there, don’t you? After a great meal such as this, I believe that a well whipped cold strawberry-chocolate sundae with any juicy red fruit atop, cannot be a bad idea.

Si vous plais mutants, you are not permitted to be mad, in fact you cannot be mad or demon possessed- if that is a better rendition for you. The base pairs concerned such a possibility, was part of the genes which the Recombinant DNA Technologist spliced out- I am so sorry! Only non-mutants are allowed to, if and whenever they so desire, in fact they cannot help it when the terrorist comes visiting. Mutants have The Gene that codes for the only good antidote to madness ever known or heard of- top secret! Mutants believe on the right thing, The Truth, the only life changing Good News that any human ear has ever heard of, the Gospel. Mutants know what right believing is, and this is right believing, it is finished, He is risen, Believe and Receive (get mutated, be eternal)!

EverydayJesus’ ‘How to be Happy!’

Happiness can only be found within Love!

Love is God and God is Love.

Receive wholeheartedly, the love of the Father;

Bask in that love for yourself

Accept yourself in His gracious redeeming love, you’ll end up accepting others too

And you’ll be happy all along!

Happiness may be a rested acceptance and enjoyment of providence

The surest way I know to Rest, is in accepting the acquittal of the only Just One, He who makes men right in His own eyes;

In allowing His forgiving Love on yourself first, others may receive from you, willingly given

And you sure will be happy all the way!

Happiness is Rest and trust!

If you are not able to simply believe and see the Father’s Love from your heart’s eye;

You might never catch a glimpse of happiness, as you run in your fervent pursuit of happiness

You might never receive His Rest for sure!

EverydayJesus and 3 of my favorite things!

Milk, silk and flowers

I’d want a mug of warm milk right now, I could die for a piece of Italian silk some time, and I’d live for an entire world of flowers, every single day.

These are a few of my favorite things!

Milk is to me, the true taste of richness, the only mother of cream, the very crème la crème of all things good.

Silk is to me, the true texture of soft luxury, the precise definition of ‘Luxe’ and taste, beauty and excellence, the only sea that I’d love to get drowned in some time!

Flower is to me, the very missing word for all things beautiful, the finest platform for nature’s full expression of life and colors, the one perfect definition of the feminine spirit; the very core and essence that I could never trade with, for anything in the whole wide world!

Milk, silk, and flowers.

They rub it on my face every single day, that I love exclusive and personalized luxury for life, and I that I would never be able to shun them, any one day of my life.

They remind me daily that I love all things bright and beautiful, soft and elegant, all things divine, and all things God!

Yeah, God is a word for all things rich, and all things crème, but my love for all things luxury, speak of my liberty in the love that sets free, the God that sets my heart free, and my five senses along with me.

I love ‘Luxe’ and beauty, and I want only the crème of all things the universe is even yet to know. I don’t like things that are just good enough, I want only the very best that my senses has endorsed. I am not sure I love them for the show but I know that I want them for my quiet and personalized pure enjoyment in my little world.

My love for my favorite things would continue to be emboldened by the love and grace of the Father, who would never rebuke me for wanting the ‘god’ of all things beautiful, the crème la crème of everything rich. Every time I love them, I celebrate the one LOVE that ‘unbraideth’ not.

EVERYDAYJESUS and my favorite word!

I love a lot of things with my whole being. In fact, I sometimes think I love them more than Christ! I know you would be birling on the sea of doubt of the authenticity of my ‘born-againness’ right now, of course I couldn’t care less as long as am saying the truth which is the only tool for my ‘emancipation’ from all ‘bondage’!

So, here’s my lead-in:

I am the body with the effulgent guy with the sobriquet, ‘Symolean Mikado Goodest’. Although I am an abecedarian at locutions, some fellas still aver that I am ‘megaloquent’, ‘logophile’, polymath and of course a huge Philomath and would run miles and miles away from my knitting crafts with the claim that I am enigmatic.

Okay, enough of all this stupid rambling. I love words! I love knowledge! I can go any length to increase the number of lexicons in my active vocabulary same goes for what I know. I wouldn’t mind jeopardizing a thing just to learn anything that catches my fancy because knowledge makes me feel like the small rudder the mighty ship just can’t do without. Words make me feel like the Mikado of the whole wide world. They make me feel so powerful and invincible! Knowledge gets me so intoxicated and most times, they make me think that I could see into other realms. They make me feel so complete that nothing else would matter to me the way they do.

But sometimes, these words I manipulate in different manners to get varying effects on my spheres turn to a cup of poison that I drink without knowing. They remove the prop with which they suspend me on the ‘most-high-state’ and my sacral vertebrae suffers the pain.

For your information, the word I was talking about is literally word, the tool of communication that unlocks the mysteries of our heart.

Nevertheless, Jesus has become to me every day, the WORD, and for all time! He is everything said and unsaid! He is the Wisdom of God, He is the spoken Word that could the big bang, in case you are a big fan of the theory! He is the Knowledge that both quenches my spirits curiosity, yet He still knows how to make me want some more!

He is Jesus!
