EVERYDAYJESUS tests every spirit!

Um, what do you usually see when you sit back with a bowl of popcorn or ice cream ( if you have the ice cream love genetic code in your DNA like me), to watch your favorite actor do his or her thing?

What do you usually see whenever you watch the news? Do you ever get to see something that nobody else ever gets to notice?

How about if you decide to do a little zee world with your mum, at least to make feel you care enough to enjoy what she enjoys? Do you finally enjoy it without feeling like you are seeing some wolf in sheep clothing?

Alright, what about ‘the now’ hit song? How about Nickelodeon, do you see the what I think I see when I watch even my own very favorite little man SpongeBob SquarePant, as innocent as the story is?

How about you decide to lock up yourself and live in the church so that you’d be ‘uncontaminated’ by the world? Do you ever notice something uncanny in some sermon that is making almost everyone else to scream, ‘well done sah’!

Do you ever get to notice how some of the things that your favorite people say, may not be true in the eternal scheme of things?

You know, I think that devil is way smarter than the homo-sapiens with the highest IQ. c’mon, man is made a little lower than angels but I thank God that a Theo- Sapiens would ‘dust’ him crazy any day, any time because he is a God!

The truth is that until Jesus comes, devil would remain the god of this world and he rules the world knowledge and information that look simple, harmless and 100% untrue! Lucifer can lie for Mandela, to say the very least!

Sometimes, things are not always what they seem. So, we Theo-sapiens must never allow to mingle with information from any source whatsoever, until they are well tested and proved. We do not take things hook line and sinker unless we have an inner witness by the Spirit. You know it is the Spirit that makes us superior to the devil and his world. We have power over him because we operate from a different system from his. You know how

I urge us therefore, to always remember that we are too superior to flow totally with the information that has saturated the world we live in! Screen please, literally!

Test every spirit, oh puhleez!

Book Review: MIRACLES By C.S. Lewis

image

Author: Clive Staples Lewis
Publisher: Harper Collins
Reviewer: Ikenna Nwachukwu

Seas parting to let humans pass through. Fire falling from the sky. A dead man coming back to life. Miracles.

The Bible tells about such happenings, and we see them as interventions from God, demonstrations of His power over all of creation, and proof of His sovereignty. We are awed by them. But the skeptic will see things differently. He will scoff and laugh it all off as myth, as something belonging with the league of fairytales.

In his book Miracles, C.S. Lewis challenges the disbelieving attitude to miracles put up by many of the intellectual type and much of the modern world. He tackles the widely held notion that supernatural occurrences are impossible, and establishes that the basis for such skepticism is not a deep knowledge of science and the laws of nature, but on a misconception of the basic ideas that underpin our understanding of nature and its workings.

Rather than dive straight into proposing reasons for believing in miracles, Lewis starts off by addressing the worldview held by the unbeliever. This worldview, he says, is what gives rise to the idea in the mind of the skeptic that miracles don’t happen. He identifies this as naturalism, a basic belief that the physical world is all that there is- as opposed to supernaturalism, which argues for the role of causes other than factors in the natural world (such as a God). But then he points out that naturalism, which doesn’t allow for a God to have His say in the natural world’s workings, is a faulty way of looking at existence. Naturalism tell us that physical causes lead to physical effects, but it doesn’t help us capture those events in communicable ways, or explain why we can even think about such processes rationally. In short, he says, naturalism cannot tell us why rational thought is possible, since it only proposes material things as causes- and the mind, which thinks, is not physical. Consciousness, Lewis asserts, must have an origin that is ‘out of this world’.

Lewis’ argument from reason helps prepare the ground for a detailed examination of the objections to miracles often cited by those who do not believe. He makes the interesting point that miracles aren’t necessarily “violations” of the laws of nature; they are uncommon events which are traceable to a divine agent, but are also explainable as occurrences that happen through natural processes. He says that miracles give the impression that the natural world can, and occasionally is, “tampered with” (by a divine will), so that outcomes in those instances seem to be glaringly unlike what we would expect from nature operating as usual.

Miracles has a lot in it for anyone who is searching for arguments in favour of believing in the supernatural. It can also serve as a great gift to a skeptic friend; it could set them on the path to thinking differently not just about miracles, but about their worldview, and the possibility that they could be better off having faith in God and in His goodness.

EVERYDAYJESUS’ ‘ALIVE’

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even   when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved). –Ephesians 2: 4-5 (NKJV).

On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out saying “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. “He who believes in Me as the Scriptures has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’’ -John 7: 37-38.

That I take in breath every now and then does not really mean that I am living

Breathing outside of Jesus is deadness

I am alive when I am at peace with God

I am alive when I can still hear His voice

I am alive when I am sensitive to His touch

Sensitive to His very presence

I live when I am dead to sin

When all that is in me is attuned to His righteousness that is by faith

I am alive when I am no longer hungry and thirsty

When I am just free to love

I am alive when in Him I bear His fruit

The breath my mother gave to me is not the real thing

It only tells me what I have in common with a bird

I became alive when I BELIEVED

And because I believe streams of Living water flow from within me

Thank God I am alive

Jesus said to them, “I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood; you have no life in you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For My flesh is real food and My blood is real drink. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood remains in Me and I in him. Just as the Living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on Me will live because of Me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your forefathers ate manna and died, but he who feeds on this bread will live forever.”-John 6: 53-58(NIV).

EVERYDAYJESUS’ Mutants speak!

Mutants speak love!

Every people have their language. Mutants also speak something. They have a language. Language is a means by which a group of people communicate with themselves. Mutants, members of God’s family relate with each other by loving. Loving is the only thing Jesus wanted them to ‘do’. Well, love is not natural to the non-mutant. It is a genetic thing. Love is an expression of the mutant genetic make-up. Mutants have a common Gene that codes for love in their DNA. This Gene was that which Paul calls a seal, or deposit guaranteeing that which is to come. Jesus teaches us that the very best way to love i.e. express the genetic code is to put our lives in line for our friends (the mutants).

“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If (very optional) you obey my commands, you will remain in my love. Just as I have obeyed my Father’s commands and remain in His love”. John 15: 9-10 (NIV).

“My command is this: love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this that a man lays down his life for his friends.” John 15: 13

Jesus achieved two things by dying: bringing mutation by faith, and teaching mutants the family language.

Love is one of the genetic expressions of mutants, and mutants express or (like every language) speak at will. That was why Jesus said ‘if’.

Paul encouraged mutants in Galatia, Corinth, and other places to express this Gene because that is how mutants express faith. The best way mutants can speak to themselves is by putting their lives in the line for each other.

Par exemplar

  1. If I was given an orange to share equally with a fellow mutant, and I cut this orange into two halves, and somehow I really felt like having some more oranges. Perhaps my mind tells me that one of the halves appeared bigger. The natural thing to do is to consciously or subconsciously secure the supposed bigger one for myself simply because I ‘felt like oranges’ that day. On the other hand if I consciously give up my desire for oranges, and give my mutant brother this supposed bigger half even when he never seemed to care or notice, then I have loved. I have given up my interest (life) for my friend and that is the mutant language.
  2. If I am having a conversation with my mutant friend and he for some reason misunderstands me, the mutant thing to do is to listen to him in order to understand him even when he appears not interested in understanding me, never get angry with him for being ‘insensitive’ but rather sincerely show empathy, and sympathize sincerely with his reasons for never considering me. Again this is giving up one’s self for a friend and it is not even possible for a natural man to understand it- trust me.

I am not saying that non-mutants should not receive this kind of display of love- c’mon non-mutants are basically blind fetus in this whole thing. So we should easily overlook their wrongs because they don’t even have what it takes to lay down self for another person. What I am saying is that treating them this way is a sure thing. The basic thing they need from us is our prayers and more gene expressions within and without mutants, so they can see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven. Our gene expression directly exposes them to the wonderful light of the better life. It leaves them wanting real life- Jesus the Bread of Life.

God inspired our brother Paul to write the following words in 1 Corinthians 13:1-13 (MSG)

If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don’t love, I’m nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate. If I speak God’s Word with power, revealing all His mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, “jump” and it jumps, but I don’t love, I’m nothing. If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don’t love, I’ve gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love.

Love never gives up.

Love cares more for others than for self,

Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have,

Love doesn’t strut,

Doesn’t have a swelled head,

Doesn’t force itself on others,

Isn’t always “me first,”

Doesn’t fly off the handle,

Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,

Doesn’t revel when others grovel,

Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,

Put up with anything,

Trusts God always,

Always looks for the best,

Never looks back, but keeps going to the end.

Love never dies. Inspired speech will be over someday; praying in tongues will end; understanding will reach its limit. We know only a portion of the truth, and what we say about God is always incomplete. But when the complete arrived, our incompleteness will be cancelled.

When I was an infant at my mother’s breast, I gurgled and cooed like any infant. When I grew up, I left those ways for good. We don’t yet see things clearly. We’re squinting in a fog, peering through a mist but it won’t be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We’ll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing Him directly just as He knows us! But for right now, until that completeness, we have three things to do to lead us toward that consummation: Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love.

If everything else including tongues and ‘Penspeak’ will end someday, and love would never die, then that is one sure language mutants will speak in heaven. Let us make our vocabulary robust today- don’t say that you have never been much of a talker. Let us start exercising the words in our ‘love’ bank today. You know we have the whole of endless eternity to speak the mutant language. Amen.
