God my teacher

Freestyle Friday graced us in its divine glory. With the host’s guidance, we wrote on four inspiring topics, creating something truly beautiful. Let’s dive in.

TOPICS:
1. DEAD TO SIN
2. ACCOUNTABILITY
3. GOD MY TEACHER
4. BLOOD OF JESUS
DATE: 6TH DECEMBER, 2024
HOST: GODZNIEL

This stunning piece by GodzNiel served as the perfect starting point:
No student I know
Knows it like pro
Being seated in Christ
Oh Lord, take my eyes
Dot them with your dictates
Wash my tongue these tastes
You’re my shield and breastplate
My God never plays late

God my teacher

God my escalator
My Commander and My Sensei
He who plans my entry
And the lessons could have broke me
But he held me in remoulding
And I trust him,
Yes, it’s really been a long trip
Many stories in this one gist
There’s no loosing me from God’s grip
I’m a student and a pilgrim
All my years are a Pen’s peak
I’m a Daniel giving Isaac

God my teacher

They calling it “circumstances”
They do not know what class is
My food doesn’t come in classes
His every word is packed, Sis
Let me marinate in sentences
Let Holiness educate my senses

GodzNiel continued:
Blood of Jesus

Stripped of flesh to say no flesh will glory in His presence
All them ills that death was cooking, ask him what’s the essence?
I call on the blood of Jesus and I escape yet another nonsense
I call on the blood of Jesus and yes I spoke me a Holy Sentence
Drop all pretence.
You knew God was calling you since pre-teens
You just wanted to taste the world and live the life of villains
Wasted the early decades, deformed your body, you loved the darkness
And God was home just waiting till you hurt yourself to madness
Watching them demons chain you to progress
Blind you to chase the aimless
Teach you to love yourself less

But He never lost your souls
You can see what Mercy chose
All the times Death came close
Who put the lamb’s blood on your doors?

Blood speaking out and in time
God being good the whole time
And we never could have paid a dime
Everyone from their own crime
Redeemed to dey sip wine
That stitch in time that redesigned whole lives engineering soul ties

The Blood of Jesus

Tell Rahab her kids are alive
Tell Leah she was bought with a price
His sufferings put joy in our eyes
If you breathe, then it’s time to decide
To ride God or take God for a ride
Not your, it’s a call to abide
Choose life and the right kind of pride
Rainbows are the Abba’s design – not flags for the way that is wide
Research, there are stories to find
The battlefield is the human mind
Sinners are dust the dragon mined
The lust of the eyes will leave one blind
The lust of the flesh will set up binds
See First Timothy Six verse Nine

But He never lost His souls
Who are the vines that Mercy chose?
All the times Death came close
Blood spoke from the doors

Lift up your head, Oh ye Gates

Then the captain Godswill Ezeonyeka came in with this:

Let the name of The Lord be exalted in our penmanship. Let our pens paint portraits pointing to the King. Let the name we know be the name we show. Let the Lord come alive as our words light up the minds that hear our testimony. Let the exaltations of our ink spur meditations that sing an endless symphony – ‘Blessing and honour and glory and power Be to Him.

Then ChyD stepped in with this:
Enrolled in the school of the spirit where there are constant drills and prunes.
God, the head master with a very clear curriculum.
I am equipped with every thing I need.
Teaching me the right path.
Discipline and correction, a proof that I am not a bastard
Extracurricular activities in healing, speaking in unknown tongues and faith exercises.
Every morning his loving kindness and tender mercies are renewed.

And then came this piece from Hannah D’Ginus:
Account ability

Hey, I have an origin
I am not wild
I am from a blood line of royals
We walk as a herd
We see ourselves without permission
No barriers, walls, or departments, else something is likely dead
And then we know a wolf is by the corner
We go deaf to unknown voices, we hear only our Shepherd
Rod and staff are our logistics
Logo is the Lamb
The Lamb who rescues faster than the speed of light
In the Royal Blood line,
We keep to account for the different abilities of our Shepherd.

We brought Freestyle Friday to a close with this incredible work by ChyD:
Akwukwo n’ato uto, ma ona afiaru n’mmuta
But Jesus has given us nkasi Obi
So we stay comforted, knowing that we have a perfect example.
A perfect game of ‘do as I do’.
The class examples were written with whips inked with blood
But the exam questions are on a lighter note.
Still he stands by in invigilation
Keeping vigil over our articulations.
Listening for students that need directions.
And offering cues, guidance and support.
These exam questions are not multiple choices.
In fact, we know for a fact that Jesus is the answer.
So we do not overthink it.
We just stay looking unto Jesus from start to finish.
Aren’t we the lucky set?
Class of favored generation
Congratulations.

Thank you for always being part of this journey. I enjoy sharing these moments with you. Till next time🥂.

Light

Sometimes I feel like the world is an unlit candle, watching my lighter’s drama.
I was taught the word is light, I guess grade school didn’t teach us to speak in brighter grammar
Cos these twilight thoughts often leave my tongue twisted.

Who ever said talk is cheap, never valued the tongue he was gifted.
Still, light has never met a darkness it could not chase.

And even when words are too heavy for lips to lift, I can still hum amazing Grace.
Until I can flip my can’ts to can dos.
Until I can speak Sparks to these candles.

Train with Yahweh

Teach your Child to pray
Teach your child the way
They are a tool in the Lords arms
So, teach them about Yahweh.

Correct them in love, listen to their heart
Take cues from Gods affection, be merciful when need be
Teach your child to pray, teach your child Gods way
So, when they are old, they do not go astray.

Teach your child to learn the vanity of time
So, they cling not tightly to things that pass away
Help them understand that time goes quickly
So, they do not waste their childhood to playful dirt.

RENEW 2

Listen
Your heart beats a melody
Listen
The world rejoices in novelty
Listen
You are here by another’s will
Listen
The Word is how you navigate this
Listen

You must be thirsty.
What drink would you love?
Water of life is always a great choice!
We live in the feelings of these little choices.
Live by choice.

Leave by choice
Regrets and bitterness in past 31
Lift by choice
Your spirits heights above where Jews lie
Leafy choices
Can be lost in this wind so hold tight
Newness is your guest today
Make the best of it

Dance!
When you can and can’t
You deserve presence,
Gift yourself the present of you
Now is a good time to live.
So dance, teach time to
Breathe, see, listen and feel
Make it wait on you.

RENEW

Let your hair down
Breathe
You’ve come this far
See
This is not destination
Listen
But home is where you are
Feel
The moon takes us through another 31
Live

Begin by breath.
One. Two.
Exhale the stress, excess, excuses.
Inhale the miracle of your heart beating hard.

The journey of a thousand miles
One step
The expectation of many lives
One thought
This is reset if you don’t clone it
Welcome to another opportunity
Crown it

Continue by Sight.
Lashes up and it’s a new day!
We are always at the start of things
And it’s okay.

And now that I have you here,
Can you hear?
Can we sit and lock hearts?
Rest a while on my chest
I will do same.
We are simply different patterns from a cloth.
Our roads have led us here.
Let’s celebrate this beautiful silence.

Sunday Perfect

Praise the Lord
I knew I shouted in response
But for the life of me I wonder
Why my eyes are closing in slumber
Maybe we should get a more interesting pastor
And I’d get more from my day at church

So I believe all that he says
But he has no idea what I’ve had to face
Its easy to talk when on that stage
Tis so sad but I’ll listen anyways
Maybe we should get a more compassionate pastor
And I’d get more from my day at church

My shoes hurt and I’m already hungry
We should be done by now one could imagine
So the fact that I zone out is no mystery
Might as well do something else, anything really
Maybe we should get a more time concious pastor
And I’d get more from my day at church

Wow wow oh wow I think my mind has gone numb
Our Pastor is absolutely the bomb
But I have not a clue what He’s shouting about
I’m trying sincerely I am and still dont know
Maybe we should get a more down to earth pastor
And I’d get more from my day at church

Like seriously… not again
I feel like last week cos this service is exactly the same
Am I the only one tired of this routine we run
Whatever happened to the dynamism and creativity in us
Maybe we should get a more flexible pastor
And I’d get more from my day at church

Oh my God, I cant believe he said that
He should know better after all he is the pastor
Hasn’t he heard, hasn’t he read or is he just clueless
oh no, he said it again nonetheless
Maybe we should get a more informed pastor
And I’d get more from my day at church

I always thought the worth of our day at church
Depended on the choir or the pastor that preached the word
See church was always meant to be a gathering of believers
For fellowship, cohesive growth and strength the Holy Spirit our teacher
Just maybe if we could all look up to Jesus and no one else
Everyday would be worth more to a perfect end
and then I will get more from my day at church.

The Christian Prayer

Lord I am a child of the kingdom,
Lord I am in dire need of wisdom,
Lord teach me how to avoid too much freedom
I recognize that I would naturally like to act as Adam.

Lord, you know the devil is always trying to make me act wrong.
He’s always glad whenever I say: sin you welcome.
Lord Teach me to calm down,
You know me, you know where I came from,
You know I have a natural affinity for sin, please I do not want to hit rock bottom.

Lord, Your word has been awesome,
Every word is so true, I have made it my daily album.
Every lyric so enchanting, it feels like my love portion.
Lord, watch me; watch my every action,
I want to be like Paul, I want to serve you with passion,
I want to heal the sick, I want to deliver people from oppression.

Lord, I Am a child of the kingdom,
Lord there is not a time I do not need your wisdom,
Lord keep far from logic and reason,
Remember I must act differently in every season,
For you know the devil will gladly put me in another sin filled prison.

Lord, now that I am a child of The kingdom,
Lord I know that many trails are yet to come,
Lord please for every test, supply me with Your wisdom,
Lord in your faithfulness preserve me till Your kingdom comes.

OPEN LETTERS

These letters I write to you Lord are tattered
Like my heart now in pieces
And I know it sounds awkward saying this
But, I have experienced so much change
Become unpredictable like the weather
I don’t even know my mirror anymore
I am stuck in this abyss,
Now Knocked out by life, because I floored

So I need an opening or a door
To escape into your bliss
To experience those moments I once reminiscence about
But my life seems like it has gone south
The walls of my soul has come crumbling down
My crown, I now wear with a scarlet gown
And your love, I have moon walked away from

Every morning, I drown in my own tears
And at night fall I take pleasure talking about my fears
I don’t understand how I have become
A stranger to you and my self
So I can only hope my letters rise to the sky like incense
As my prayer are littered all over those papers
I hope that as I dig through your word again to unearth my goldmine
I pray that you would patiently build my faith again like a skyscraper

Keep me from being as loose as a kite blown by every wind and doctrine
Show me how to love again with great affection
So that your grace will be only song I continually play on my selection
As you teach me to walk on water again despite my imperfection
I am sure then,
That My life will finally make sense again
