I = LIFE

It came in a flash like some Allen knew exactly what was on my mind.

In the midst of 2 strangers in a BRT bus, one looked like another normal guy, and the other like a boss.

*Lagos my location, but I had thoughts in heaven.
So I felt heaven on earth, well that’s what you get for being in Him.

Have you ever wondered how lovely it would be to spend a whole day without bad mouthing anything, anywhere or even anyone?

Like No…
Bastard; playfully said
or
Fool; with a lovely pat on the head

No…
‘You will never amount to anything’ from a mother to a child and perhaps;

No pastor would lead a congregation of well meaning followers to a battle ground that makes a post of ‘deaths to whoever’ and then tag God in prayers like he was a supporting cast in this horror movie on a steady loop in their mind.

But they don’t see it,
We don’t see it,
I mean how black can a heart get before truth can no longer wash it?

I wish we can all set a day apart;
A day when we will all agree to rather trade punches than hurt with our words

A day when we will be focused enough to not let any slippery dark word go unapologized.
A day when we stop using these black knights to bat men, but rather;

Step into the light and use white to bathe them.

A day, when we master love
Then We try a week,
Then a month;

And soon it becomes abnormal and weigh a thousand tons on our lips whenever we try to muster the courage to plant a word that will grow into a scary tree from these our mustard seeds.

So I decide daily, surely, purposely;
I choose to believe differently
To fight differently
To speak differently
See differently

And actually stop playing the devil’s hate game with him.

Since we are buddies, let me play a little with God;
For I am in Him
And He is in me
Heaven in *Lagos;
LIFE!

I will be that one drop of oil that will float above stormy waters.
I will fight alongside anyone I can, till my heart goes silent with its beats.

It’s who I am, it’s what I give,
LIFE!

*Lagos is a major city in Nigeria.

Crossed Roads

So, here I am,  stuck on the cross

Paying the ultimate price for my wrong

Feeling my life seep slowly out of me

Looking down at my accusers, scorning me and my colleagues.

Well…

Colleague and one other man

Of  whom I know so little about

Of all the things I’ve heard,

It’s that he doesn’t deserve to be up here

Well, my colleague thinks otherwise

Since he’s been taunting and  mocking him,

“If you really are the Christ, then save us!” he says

“how can you say such, seeing we deserve to be here?” I answered.

However when I look at him

I felt an indescribable thing

So different from what I’ve felt since I made my first kill

I knew, I just knew he was going somewhere

Somewhere good.

So maybe, just maybe, I could go with him

So, I throw in me last bargaining chip

“Lord,  remember me when you come into your paradise”

Then he turned his eyes to me.

And I wondered, “how could someone in such amount of pain,

Much greater than the one I’m feeling, have such compassion?”

He says, ” I assure you,  today, you well be with me in paradise”

Then peace flooded my heart

I knew that for once in my wretched life

I’d finally done the right thing.

When Love Leads…

The Evil In The Heart Of Men Flee
The Wounds That Caused Me Nothing But Pain And Shame Would Surely Heal
My Smile I Would At Last Regain
The Stone That Lies Deep Down My Chest At The Centre Of My Rib Cage Would Soften
And A Heart Full Of Love Would Arise And Become Flesh
Our Mothers Would No Longer Desire To Set Their Homes On Fire
And Our Fathers Would Realise Why They Should Adore Their Wives
Instead Of Chasing Them With Knifes
When True Love Leads
Hatred Would No Longer Be Seen
Lust Would Now Be Regarded As Nothing Else But Sin
Wars! Crisis! Chaos!
Would Be Placed Under Our Foot
We Would No Longer Run For Our Dear Lives
Our Children Won’t Be Afraid To Picture Their Future In The Stars
Dreams! Goals! Ambitions!
Won’t Be Stepped Upon By Bourgeois’s Right Before Our Very Eyes.
When Love Leads!
God Leads!

Penspeak 2017: The Definition

There are so many ways to tell this story, but looking back now, I am so glad I lived it.

When a man meets a good idea, he knows he is set for a world of benefits but when a man meets a God idea, he knows, it will only take God to accomplish it. Penspeak was borne for the writer and his audience, a time to experience the sweet romance between words and the message they carry, between the dexterity of the pen and the Spirit from which it flows. It is a time envisioned to cause a definite change to birth something new or revive what is dying; One stage, One mic, One Spirit and for those glorious hours, nothing else matters but the truth and it sure does set one free.

Every year it has been a blessing to the team and the audience of Nsukka to see what God can do with what an untrained mind would call “mere words”, yet again in less than a month we are yet to experience much more, inexplicably more what God is set to wrought through this massive vision. To say in specific words what one could expect is to belittle the awe, God is preparing for the expectant heart, so I am going to just say this…

Keep your eyes and ears peeled for details
Cause they are coming…

And when they do, be kind enough to tell a friend, any friend

Because one thing is certain
There is no way any one would leave that hall without a specific blessing

Grace.

DO YOU BELIEVE? : A movie review

Movie length: 2 hours

Release: September 3, 2015

Director: Jonathan M. Gunn

The Review

This action packed drama, set in an urban fast paced and dangerous city excellently meshes the lives of the love stricken, death haunted, money seeking and Christ longing hearts of random people who’s paths cross without them even knowing, which in turns causes a ripple effect that produces more than any of them could ever bargain for.

The ball is set rolling by McGinley, the pastor who’s encounter with a street preachers is tantamount to Moses’ encounter with the burning bush, this inspires a crazy sermon which criminal Shwayze bumps into as he ducks from the cops, also the aged Teri and her husband who’s grieving heart gets a fresh mandate to inconvenience, not to mention Elena who’s husband Bobby is literally pulling dragging to heaven with his “fanatical” Christianity and there’s also Joe who might as well be named Angel Joe.

All of them are about to undergo what may be the greatest challenges of their lives, as their lives intermingle and pulls others from outside their world, the cost of believing might soon prove unbearable as it promises to ruin some, hurt some and send the rest to their graves, that’s the threat and it’s no bluff. The movie shows belief is not just a word but a life backed with some crazy actions

At the end of the movie, you’ll probably find yourself kneeling, stopping and beginning to think of your life and what it really means to believe. With an excellent story line, standard production quality and a bit of bad acting here and there, we’ll have to give the movie a six point nine (6.9) out of ten (10) ranking. The movie is definitely a must watch.

TWS- SPIT THEM OUT!

The processed information from our hearts that gets to our mouth can either be bad or good, negative or positive, destructive or constructive. I have said that whatever form they take, you need to let them out.

Someone asked: Are we supposed to utter negative things out of our mouth?

I will try to answer this question here. My answer may not be absolute, but I think it will help you.

The last episode was a bit open ended and I will take it further in this episode. If you did not read my last post, please visit my blog site to read it so you can understand the foundation that was laid for this post.

It is instructive to know that the way you let out the processed information from your heart through your mouth differs and is dependent on the nature of the processed information. The way you let out the bad differs from the way you let out the good. It is also important to note that they are all let out as WORDS. So they can be negative words, or positive words.

How do you let out negative words?

I will want to liken negative words to phlegm. Phlegm is produced when you have a bad body condition such as cold. When phlegm comes to your mouth, how do you let it out? You SPIT IT OUT! That is exactly what you do to negative words. You do not pour it on any other person neither do you pour it on yourself. When you spit it out, you cover it with positive words.

Have you ever been so angry at someone that all you feel like doing is rain curses and abuses? You have the option to spit the curses and abuses on the person or you could let the person know that you are not happy with what they did without raining curses and abuses on the person.

If you must get to the zenith of your life, you must learn how not to pour negative words on yourself or on others. And please, swallowing the negative words will not help you. They will always find their way back to your mouth and you will never know peace until you let them out.

Do not forget, the way to let out negative words is to spit them out. Do not spit it out on yourself or others, and remember to cover it with positive words.
