EVERYDAY JESUS is the same

There were no interruptions
Silence imploded into infinity
Until even my thoughts bleached
The slasher of my grin inhaled my anxiety
Savoring my frantic attempts
To be calm
To be useful
To love.

Recently I attended a large denomination’s branch in my town (let me not name names) and I heard the pastor say things like, ‘If you don’t thank God when you pray he will not hear you.’ and ‘This is your year to build those houses, and buy those cars…’ and other stuff I’ve deleted.
Now of course these are the kind of things that vex me so one of those times, I prayed and asked The Father,’ when will these people think differently?’
He replied, ‘I have made you as you are, able to grasp truth and renew your mind easily and quickly. That’s what I made you. You are not alone in my gifts, as you know, there are those everywhere who know, respect and commune with me.’

I interrupted,’Lord, is it pride to be pleased that I am one of these your chosen ones?’

‘No, its not. Pride would be lording it over them to the point you separate yourself from them.’

There were no interruptions
Silence had borne its children
Until a sour baptism of longing
The Longer waited until this When
To end the silence
To noisy it
With Truth.

Yes its written, and so?!
We will do what we do
How can God understand,
How it feels here on lands?

Soon he comes by the clouds
Tearing all of the shrouds.
And He left us the way
Did he fore-see today?

All the good and the perfect
Is our duty to project
But we have to scrape, scrape away
All the garbage in the way.

If we say we’re born of God
Then we do the work
Not because of words of air
No because of who we are

Let his punctuations puncture
Me of thoughts without his future.
And let his verbs reverberate
Into the deeds I perpetrate.
He’ll paint my adjectives
And because he lives
I am a noun named
Only by the breath he penned.

Still the choice is really
Made individually.
I’ll think the way he does,
Am sticking to the Words.

Hello ‘F.R.I.E.N.D.S’,

I have that feeling one gets when they’re ‘home alone’ and like ‘The Flash’ power flickers and is ‘Taken 2’. That’s a norm in Nigeria though, so many know this feeling well.

Real Christians shouldn’t ‘Bleach’ at the sound of darkness.

But again I’m monologuing in the ‘House’ that is ‘Once upon a Time…’ You see Truth when God says, ‘Let it Shine.’

It doesn’t matter if ‘The Devil wears Prada’, it matters that he is filled with hateful ‘Obsession’ that makes him whisper to every Christian, ‘He’s not that into you’.

And by you I mean ‘Her’, ‘The Church’ who all spark ‘Transformers’ to become ‘Titanic’; Dying to ‘Sin City’ and passing ‘The Exam’ that is The Law.

His job is to accuse ‘Heroes’ and ‘Stitch’ ‘A Thousand Words’ in misrepresentation of ‘The Lion King’, ‘Son of God’, ‘The Matrix’ of ‘Life as we know it’.

MANIFESTING THE SPIRIT OF EXCELLENCE
If you did not receive the spirit of excellence last Sunday, I bet you had gone out for lunch during the sermon.
So brother Daniel filled with excellence had no other option but to paint the he lived in with standards that marked him out as an Excellency even before he got a portfolio. A wonderful administrator through whom the king had no other option but to suffer no loss, a powerful dreamer and visionary that foretold the future and interpreted the artful handwriting on the wall as though it was just an ordinary ABC.
Looking at the marvelous works big Daniel did, am forced to ask, “Did he have an all-round-excellent Spirit?” of course the answer is yes. The excellency he carried in his belly was made manifest in the things God wanted to use to achieve his glory through him. Though he was operating under the spirit of excellence, he was never tagged a wonderful musician or a great man of war like David whose manifestation of excellence was not just in been a caring, loving shepherd but also in the skillful manipulation of harp and spiritual downloading of soul lifting song directly from the throne of grace and deftly taking down brother Goliath.
And am like,”who is this excellent spirit we are talking about?” The holy spirit is the spirit of excellence, so if you have the holy spirit having his majestic mansion sited within you, you are bound to be excellent. Imagine elder Jesus Christ whom Beloved John recorded had the spirit of god without measures, he could talk three volumes of life with no flaws for the Pharisees to nail him with yet he could by the same words change people like my very brother Mathew who was nothing near goodness. Why was all these possible? The excellent spirit he received needed to be manifested not just in oratory but also in signs that followed him everywhere he went.
So like Daniel, we could be excellent in our academics, we could like David give the world thousands of songs that would take away despair, and we could end up been great fishers of men like Paul who braved through challenges to take the gospel with power to the gentiles, we could make books without end like  our most brother Solomon who filled with world with wisdom, we could be more excellent than shakespare because the spirit of excellence is in us. But remember this, “you can only manifest excellence in the areas God intend to move the nation through you.

The Problem with Thanksgiving Dinners

In America, Thanksgiving Dinner is a big deal in most families, because it is an annual, one time per year kind of thing. It has requirements of tradition that go back to the very early days of Colonial America. For instance, you must have roast turkey somewhere in the room. Everybody knows that when you roast a turkey, you must also have stuffing (or dressing) to go with it, and here is where things get tricky; the kind of stuffing depends quite a bit on where in America you happen to be. Other things are also required, for there must be potato dishes, sweet potato dishes, and thanks to the Campbell’s soup company, we must also have green beans. It sounds crazy when you say it like that, doesn’t it?
