To an Unknown God

Sometimes Church feels like Athens
Worship-wielding wanderers wondering

To whom do we gather in obedience?
Men masking maladies making monuments?

Our fellowship should be love in experience
For Father’s foundations form family finesse

So from what root then comes our difference?
Banal boastings blurring basic believing

To a known God shall be the gathering of brethren
Rightly revealing restful reverent righteousness

In knowing God the Church must find her essence
Honing humans hosting heaven – holy harness

Penspeak Online – 30/12/2024

Our last offering of the year is an event we are so blessed to share with the world. During the year, we were blessed to share what God has given us with some amazing writing communities in Nigerian Universities. 3 out of these communities were able to host a Live Spoken Word Event under the theme “Called”. It featured first-time writers and experienced ministers as well making a symphony of words to and for the pleasure of our Lord.

Penspeak Online is a selection of some of these ministrations for the benefit of anyone who may or may not have had the blessing of attending in person. The event is hosted on YouTube and will remain available on YouTube. The date for the live event is 30th December 2024 and time is 9pm WAT.

Stay tuned for more offerings on here and hopefully we will all have a Holy Ghost service at Penspeak Online!

God bless you and have a glorious Christmas celebration.

Man With The Mic

I fear for the man with the microphone
He must speak that which was spoken to him
But does he listen only to speak to the crowd
Can he listen enough to listen while he speaks

I wonder at the woman with the microphone
Laid out in beautiful worship before her Lord
Does her feet still know the grounds of this world
Will this dance of transcendence translate or transform

I fear and I wonder at the man I could be
Microphone in hand, driven by more than I can transmit
I pray that my eyes and heart never know another Lord
That I never be left on my own with a microphone

I wonder at the people we will be, microphone in hand
Telling of his love, revealing to all what they need to hear
More than words we can describe yet we raise a sound
So I pray with the microphone in our hands only Him will be heard

What do I have in my hand?

Exodus 4:2, 17

“And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod.
And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs.”

Me? Like, you mean, I?
I mean, I’m looking around me
And no one else is here.
It looks like you’re talking to…
Oh. It’s me you’re-? Okay.

What do I have in my hand?
Okay, let’s see. Errrm.
Wait. Do you mean like hand-hand,
Or do you mean it, like, figuratively?
Because, see ehn… Oh sorry.

See ehn, I have a pen, but I also have a…
Wait. Am I saying this right?
Because a part of me thinks
That you probably mean what do-
Oh. You mean like in my hand

– Like physically? Okay

Well, it’s a pen. And it’s blunt.
Sorry, of course a pen is not a pencil.
It cannot – errmm – cannot be blunt.
Or maybe blunt also means… Well…
I mean that it doesn’t write

Hahaha – hmm. Sorry.
I swear the laugh was a reflex.
I thought that you said it’s enough.
And somehow it sounded funny and-
Oh. You mean it’s- you mean it’s enough?

Sorry, what exactly is it enough for?
Oh my God! God is talking to me!
What a – what a – wait. Hold on.
This feels normal all of a sudden.
What a normal thing it is.

A God, talking to another God.
Yes, Sorry sir. You were talking.
So, my pen. Right.
You said it was enough for –
Sorry, for what again?

For signs?
Of course, who didn’t know that.
Pens are for nothing if not for
For signatures and putting down th-
Oh, not that? But you said-

Oh, you mean “Wonders.”
I wonder what You mean.
How could a pen – I mean – I bought
It from Malam’s shop oh. I just thought –
Just thought I should tell you.

Oh, you already knew that.
Of course. You’re God.
Silly me. Lol. Sorry. Wait. Is that a sin?
Saying Lol at God? Oh it’s not?
Oh well, I didn’t know. Lol.

So, you’re saying with this old thing,
This blunt little blue pen
That I’m going to – sorry repeat that part.
Right. I’m going to bring the world-
Wait. Did you mean the entire world or-

Oh, okay. The entire world, you say.
Is going to come down to its knees
In worship to the Almighty.
Hahaha. Lol. This one sweet me ehn!
Sorry. We’re being serious.

It’s not like I don’t believe you oh.
Okay, maybe a part of me doesn’t.
But – ah! – but even you check am na.
It looks too – Oh. You know, abi?
Oh, you’ll help me. Ha!

Well, if you say so.
you, from Heaven, say so.
Then, I guess I agree with you.
Amen oh.
Amen.

ONE DAY

One day we shall meet Him
We shall see Him face to face
The One we love
The One we worship
The One we adore

One day we shall ride on the clouds
Immortal, unrestricted, unstoppable
Fluid, weightless and free

One day all of life’s pains shall end
All we will know is joy
We shall smile till our cheeks hurt
We shall dance without fear
We shall laugh for all eternity
We shall rejoice in victory

Praises To God

Lift up your voices oh ye earth and let the sound of your praises reach the heavens
Sing like birds on a bright sunny morning and let the wonders of God be known to all.
Raise instruments in worship
Beat the heavy drums and play the flutes, let them testify to the King of kings.

Let your voices rise to the roof tops, overpowering even the strongest of walls, let the earth be shaken by the sound of rejoicing to our God.
Sing, with all your might. Shout, with all your heart and let all hell quiver with fear of our testimonies.

Praise the Lord!!!!

The Bleeding Heart

The blood she shed was all her own.
She’d found no way to staunch the flow
For twelve long years.
The cost to her in doctors’ care
Was nothing to her shame and her enormous fears.
Unclean and thus untouchable
She knew she’d live and die alone in blood and tears.

The world had turned its back on her
And all she saw and all she touched was tinged with red.
Denied the right to worship God,
Denied the Temple courts by law, her soul was dead.
Denied all comfort, love of friends
And touch of man, she kept alone her blood-stained bed.

Her last hope lay in this new man,
But with her touch she’d make him, too, unclean, outcast.
And should she even hope for help?
Of all the people God might heal she was the last.
For it was God who sent the curse,
The blood and shame, the loneliness, through Laws He passed.

In spite of all these doubts and fears,
Mistrust of God, she took her chance – a touch unseen.
Then, Jesus, the untainted, changed the Law to Love.
Her world became new, fresh and green.

The blood He shed was all his own,
And flowing down it covered her and washed her clean.

At Your Feet

Here at your feet
Consider me yours Lord
Laying past, present and future
Laying my life down to live yours

Here at your feet
Alone with nowhere else to go
In company of the Saint
For here i will worship
Waiting to be strengthened
Give me your patience
Your peace to be complete
Far above every defeat

Here at your feet
Where I’m all yours
And you are mine
Where my thoughts are of you
And my faith is made complete
Forever yours
Far out on the horizon above the bay
Above principalities and power
Free from the world
Clothed in your glory
Where I dwell and all is well
Even with my soul.
