I = LIFE

It came in a flash like some Allen knew exactly what was on my mind.

In the midst of 2 strangers in a BRT bus, one looked like another normal guy, and the other like a boss.

*Lagos my location, but I had thoughts in heaven.
So I felt heaven on earth, well that’s what you get for being in Him.

Have you ever wondered how lovely it would be to spend a whole day without bad mouthing anything, anywhere or even anyone?

Like No…
Bastard; playfully said
or
Fool; with a lovely pat on the head

No…
‘You will never amount to anything’ from a mother to a child and perhaps;

No pastor would lead a congregation of well meaning followers to a battle ground that makes a post of ‘deaths to whoever’ and then tag God in prayers like he was a supporting cast in this horror movie on a steady loop in their mind.

But they don’t see it,
We don’t see it,
I mean how black can a heart get before truth can no longer wash it?

I wish we can all set a day apart;
A day when we will all agree to rather trade punches than hurt with our words

A day when we will be focused enough to not let any slippery dark word go unapologized.
A day when we stop using these black knights to bat men, but rather;

Step into the light and use white to bathe them.

A day, when we master love
Then We try a week,
Then a month;

And soon it becomes abnormal and weigh a thousand tons on our lips whenever we try to muster the courage to plant a word that will grow into a scary tree from these our mustard seeds.

So I decide daily, surely, purposely;
I choose to believe differently
To fight differently
To speak differently
See differently

And actually stop playing the devil’s hate game with him.

Since we are buddies, let me play a little with God;
For I am in Him
And He is in me
Heaven in *Lagos;
LIFE!

I will be that one drop of oil that will float above stormy waters.
I will fight alongside anyone I can, till my heart goes silent with its beats.

It’s who I am, it’s what I give,
LIFE!

*Lagos is a major city in Nigeria.

You heard it from me!

Hey there, my name is Favour Omeje and I write.

I have known the joys of writing especially wielding my pen to summon words together to tell the love story of ‘the Word’=Christ.

Writing has been to me like lending readers shoes to walk back and forth time to experience what good things, I have experienced in Christ; simply put, writing has become like a kiss and tell story.

Soon enough, I got signed up to the Christ A Poet team where I was given a loud voice to express my Christian experience. It was there that I took a dip in excellence and team spirit. Christ A Poet  Team provided different platforms for people like me who love to read and write to gain writing prowess while telling the Lord’s story in diverse translations. One of such platforms is the Freestyle Friday.

Freestyle Friday is boundless needless to say.

This is how we do it:
We gather virtually on our social media platforms where a theme is dished out; then we all do justice to it using the different forms of literature available to man.

This time, we want you to share in the experience that we have enjoyed exclusively as team mates for years and you don’t have to be committed to us to enjoy this.

Just follow the link and request entry!

Do you love to read?

What about write?

Then you don’t want to miss this fun. You can take my word for it!

EVERYDAYJESUS’ Worded Gift!

Each Word a Gift!

‘In a fast paced world…’, a popular advert would say. With my fast paced mouth I’d rather say, I could have a pretty hard time keeping up with my ‘Word Processing Center’! Sometime last October, I learned more than a handful from one of my precious moments of solitude, I’d tell you about it. I have this major favorite guy, it’s supposed to be a secret but please don’t get this twisted. Alright? Thanks! One day before I hibernated in myself, aka solitude, I gave him this cool compliment over the phone, I am so not telling no one what I said to him. And you mustn’t get this twisted too. It could be an everyday compliment, okay? Needless to say, the compliment was a lil bit flirtatious, I must confess! That wasn’t the plan I swear, but the compliment leaked anyways! Nevertheless, he didn’t let a drop of the compliment to sink into his heart; he is one of those rare species- trust me!  So, how did I know that he didn’t accept the compliment then? Well, Favouromeje has a knack for picking up every kind of vibes, even the ones sent wordlessly and wirelessly through a phone- trust me! This guy’s cold shoulder treatment towards my ‘innocent flirty’ compliment gave me some cuds to chew, and I learned a bundle of truth by the time I was done ruminating!

Ephesians 4: 29:

“Watch the way you talk. Let nothing foul or dirty come out of your mouth; say only what helps, each word a gift” (MSG)

“Let no foul or polluting language, nor evil word nor unwholesome or worthless talk [ever] come out of your mouth, but only such [speech] as is good and beneficial to the spiritual progress of others, as is fitting to the need and the occasion, that it may be a blessing and give grace (God’s favor) to those who hear it” (AMP).

“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen” (NIV)

“Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear” (ESV).

“You must not let such a word that depletes the spiritual state, and gives the mind more renewal assignment to do, to come out your mouth, but only that which is a needful and wholesome diet, nourishing to the soul; no junks added, and is able to improve, renew, better the mind, bring about Spirit ascendancy over human mind, and of course is able to impact God’s unmerited favor on any one who is fortunate to hear you speak to them” (Favouromeje).

So while my mouth is blabbing, I must be sure that it is blabbing at the right time, giving good spiritual nourishment, no mind corrupting junks, no soul barricading cholesterol, making people better, and having basically the Grace and Gospel of God as an underlying major theme.

I wonder how I can prepare such a Word Diet in this fast paced world, with my really fast paced mouth!

Well, I am doing that now (winks)!

TWS- SPIT THEM OUT!

The processed information from our hearts that gets to our mouth can either be bad or good, negative or positive, destructive or constructive. I have said that whatever form they take, you need to let them out.

Someone asked: Are we supposed to utter negative things out of our mouth?

I will try to answer this question here. My answer may not be absolute, but I think it will help you.

The last episode was a bit open ended and I will take it further in this episode. If you did not read my last post, please visit my blog site to read it so you can understand the foundation that was laid for this post.

It is instructive to know that the way you let out the processed information from your heart through your mouth differs and is dependent on the nature of the processed information. The way you let out the bad differs from the way you let out the good. It is also important to note that they are all let out as WORDS. So they can be negative words, or positive words.

How do you let out negative words?

I will want to liken negative words to phlegm. Phlegm is produced when you have a bad body condition such as cold. When phlegm comes to your mouth, how do you let it out? You SPIT IT OUT! That is exactly what you do to negative words. You do not pour it on any other person neither do you pour it on yourself. When you spit it out, you cover it with positive words.

Have you ever been so angry at someone that all you feel like doing is rain curses and abuses? You have the option to spit the curses and abuses on the person or you could let the person know that you are not happy with what they did without raining curses and abuses on the person.

If you must get to the zenith of your life, you must learn how not to pour negative words on yourself or on others. And please, swallowing the negative words will not help you. They will always find their way back to your mouth and you will never know peace until you let them out.

Do not forget, the way to let out negative words is to spit them out. Do not spit it out on yourself or others, and remember to cover it with positive words.
