FALL

Should you fall
Should the devil try to be your warden and sin your prison
Should your burdens become so heavy you can’t stand tall
Or Should guilt flood your mind and drown your reason

Should you fall to your own pride.
Moonwalk into iniquity.
Fall over the dark side
And bow to its ubiquity.

Should you lie or cheat
In fear or deceit.
Should you steal or even kill
So much that your seems fate sealed.

If you should fall, then fall.
But fall for God’s love and his sacrifice
Fall into his embrace For grace has paid your price
Fall to your knees and commune
Fall in love with him and to the darkness, you will be immune

If you must fall then fall
But why not let the solid rock be what you fall for
If you must fall then fall
But fall for Christ and fall no more.

What Faith Sees

What Faith Sees
Faith sees beyond the eyes of beings
that force a flight
through all clouds of sense
that brings evidence
Faith sees unseen things
Hidden from all mortal eyes
And brings to fullness
The good tidings

Faith sees a conviction power from heaven
That holds unto the promise God has given
As His everlasting love encircles us as we run
By His grace to strengthen, guide as we go

Faith sees a conquering power
Strong in might from weakness
Securely fixed in Christ alone
For the victory he won.
Faith sees the cross
As a melting soul repents
Of sin, as he admits his dross
And all is forgiven.

The Christian Prayer

Lord I am a child of the kingdom,
Lord I am in dire need of wisdom,
Lord teach me how to avoid too much freedom
I recognize that I would naturally like to act as Adam.

Lord, you know the devil is always trying to make me act wrong.
He’s always glad whenever I say: sin you welcome.
Lord Teach me to calm down,
You know me, you know where I came from,
You know I have a natural affinity for sin, please I do not want to hit rock bottom.

Lord, Your word has been awesome,
Every word is so true, I have made it my daily album.
Every lyric so enchanting, it feels like my love portion.
Lord, watch me; watch my every action,
I want to be like Paul, I want to serve you with passion,
I want to heal the sick, I want to deliver people from oppression.

Lord, I Am a child of the kingdom,
Lord there is not a time I do not need your wisdom,
Lord keep far from logic and reason,
Remember I must act differently in every season,
For you know the devil will gladly put me in another sin filled prison.

Lord, now that I am a child of The kingdom,
Lord I know that many trails are yet to come,
Lord please for every test, supply me with Your wisdom,
Lord in your faithfulness preserve me till Your kingdom comes.

THE BLANKET: THE BIG SIN DILEMMA

Once in a while some “new” social vice steps onto the scene that seems to rock the very moral core of the world. Whenever this happens, the church has been known to be very damning in their judgment of whatever it is, giving the world the notion that though God hates sin, He hates some sins more than the others.

Of course, this is laughable for anyone who has actually studied the Bible. In theory, it is clearly stated that in God’s eyes a rebellious person is as bad as a murderer. The thing that creates these distinctions is our own moral bias and since we are somewhat afraid to own up to them, we just slap our God on it and hope that everyone accepts it without question.

The only problem with this is God only backs up his word, not yours. So, if and when the inconsistency is found in your judgment of some “big sin”, your sense of judgement called to question. But the God you claim told you that is also called to question. Making the world doubt the sovereignty of God’s wisdom and stray farther from salvation.

Another problem with this dilemma is the way a blanket is thrown over anyone struggling with such vices or tendencies. This happens because once you put the spotlight on a character flaw, a single story begins to manifest and sure as day it is slapped on every individual with even an inkling of a trait close to the said character flaw. Popular instances are, “All smokers are wife beaters”, “All serial killers are loners”, “All homosexuals come from broken homes” etc.

These look harmless and probably justifiable on the surface but if you look deeper, it is hurting more people than we realize. A very big reason for this is when people build their lives on such a premise, it does cave in and when it does, they lose trust and begin to question everything. It is just like the proverbial hole covered with a blanket and throne set on it as told in African folklore. We are setting a trap for ourselves when we proliferate these stereotypes. Even when we do so in goodwill.

The human character is perhaps the most dynamic phenom on the planet. It may look like the same trait, but it frequently changes in its expression. This tells us that to help anyone with a character flaw, an individualistic approach is the best way. An approach that considers the human in question and their specific experience with the said struggle.

Also, take off the veil over the act. Every sinful act is sinful before God and Jesus died for them all. Once we give one priority over the other, we inadvertently give power to a sinful act; which should not be so. No matter how horrendous it may seem, it is no different from what we may call ‘everyday’ sin and it is a product of man’s inordinate desire to control his own destiny. The way out is always to surrender to the Lordship of Jesus and let the Holy Spirit guide you.

Sin is quite the topic in the Christian sphere, but that is about it. There are no big sins. And no matter what it is you and I are struggling with, the fact remains, it is wrong, and God wants to help us with it. Go to God in prayer, change your focus from yourself to God, get all the help you need and see God save you as He has promised.

Grace.

YOU ARE A TRESPASSER!

On a certain Thursday morning, I busied myself in the kitchen trying to fix breakfast for the family. I was going to have a somewhat busy day; I had a little long list of things I wanted to check that day. I had heated the rice that had remained the day before, scheduling it for lunch for that Thursday, and I was making some chips of yam for breakfast. Prior to that day, I had discussed with my mum that we were going to have the rice for lunch; as a matter of fact, we had agreed upon that.

So while I worked in the kitchen, my mother went straight to the heated pot of rice sitting on the electric cooker and started to take her breakfast from it. I was taking out my first batch of yam chips from the pan. I didn’t find it funny, I really was furious. I didn’t like anyone ruining my plans. I asked her why she was offending me and she simply ignored me. She went on to help herself with some of the rice. I believe that had made me angry, all the more. However, I made up my mind not to nag about it. So I calmed myself down but that was not before I had given her a piece of my mind; I made it clear that I didn’t like what she had done.

By afternoon, I found my way around the serving of lunch and everyone including herself, had a portion to eat. I also had gone to the market to replenish the home supplies.

When I had returned from the market, my mum asked me to start preparing dinner. That was around 3:00 pm. I was tired and I had some writing to do. I also wanted to pray and read from the Bible all at the same time. So, I shook my head and I told her that I wasn’t going to do as she had instructed because I was tired. After I had rested and done all that I wanted to do, I started making dinner, my dinner preparation started at exactly 5:00 pm that evening.

I’ll cut the story short; I ended up serving dinner as late as 9:00 pm because I didn’t start on time. It was an indigenous dish which typically required a lot of time to prepare. Also, we usually have dinner at my home much earlier than that. What’s more, the dish was made from milled corn and this milled corn had a potential of going sour when kept for too long, my mother had warned me of that earlier. In addition to the fact that the dinner came late, the corn was bad. My mother was not in any way pleased. I had not intended to cause this problem; I felt I had my reasons but she didn’t find it funny. She also didn’t intend to ruin my plans for lunch when she took some of the lunch for breakfast. She tried to explain later; she said that she was really very hungry at the time and didn’t know that I had any batches of chips ready.

Here is my point:

We all fail. We are all bound to step on each other’s toes because no two people are the same and think exactly the same way. We should make room in our hearts for each other’s excesses.

Dear beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather GIVE PLACE UNTO WRATH: for it is written, vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.- Romans 12 vs 19, KJV.

Ripped pages

Ripped pages
Torn soul
Burning heart
Out of control
Nothing seems whole
Lost sight of the goal
Now stuck at a corner
Sin knows how to cajole
Tongue twist your mind
Makes sure he leaves you blind and weary
Leaves you sailing in his storm
He will always change the norm
But I choose not to conform
I choose to see the calmness in God’s voice and faith in his word
That is my choice
For when trials come, I will always rejoice

WHAT YOU SEE

It is a fact that when you look Up to the sky
You will see a bird or a plane
But what really comes to mind, what would enters the brain
If you think fast like the Flash
Is a God who picked you from the trash; bin,

Loved you with all your Sin
His son took lash that scratched his back like heat rash
Took spears to his side so he could bleed your mind off its ignorance
Made you see his light that you can make a round about of your life

And despite all your hurt that might have cut you deep like a knife
Plus the strife you faced and falter,
He brings you grace and all your failures he can alter
Will Make your body his Altar as your sight is fixed on his Word

You will soar like that bird
Become Batman when everybody around you only see Bruce Wayne
Then you will understand your efforts without him are Vain
And your Success story you can attain
If you just stay on the same lane with him,
He will give you power like you just work out in the gym
Make you a Star in his block buster film
But if you fail,

Well,
Blame your Eyes
Maybe, just maybe it advised your Mind wrong
Sees Failure when all he says is you are a success
Called you cursed when all he says is you are bless
But then, you can address your case like he did on that cross
As he took away your failure so he could add a dress of grace to your suitcase
That your tongue will only talk of his goodness,

For that will be the testimony you will attest to
So the next time you see Temptation or trials
Just Set your Eyes on the Hill
Take in his word like prescription pill
Then Chill,
Because your help is also staring you back in the face

For love only

I thought I knew strength, what I thought
I felt I needn’t do what I ought
I was wrong, so I blamed my strife
Follow me and you’ll have eternal life
These words I didn’t heed
I was that rebellious seed
Though aware of this grace, I was no bolt in this race
Adam where art thou? I hid my face
I had gone against truth, tasted the forbidden fruit

Surely I still had time, I said
But any hope in this very lie was dead
“The day of the Lord so cometh as a thief…
But I kept sinning, ignoring my belief
“The wages of sin is death…
Mine drew closer with every breath

This cliché have I heard, the thousandth time
Repent or eternal death; the clergy rhyme
So at times I wondered, beyond and under
Is Hell a yonder? Or should I even bother?
If this suffering, they speak is somewhat real
maybe the safe side is where I’d rather be
So yes, I did consider

What if I got saved, or take a break from life o’er there
I would still be lost, neither here nor there
“Thou shall love the Lord your God…
I knew mine wasn’t love; Just the fear of hell
Maybe it was the same if no one could tell
So I walked in hands open, heart closed.

“By me if any man enter in, he shall be saved..
I walked in and didn’t come out the same
I didn’t come out at all.
I thought he was blinded by his love
But it made him see what even I couldn’t
Coz even when I despised him, he loved me
He still does, and always will.
Oh! and this time I love him too
