With These Hands

With these hands, I will write a hymn, a poem, and a love note,
Just to express the joy my soul feels.
From the gifts of which your word wrote,
And the ails of that which it heals.

For In his hands, are holes that I be made whole,
That I be free from the world and it’s ill
By his sacrifice I am a saved soul
And a co heir to his estate and will.

With these hands, I will lift his name on High
Above issues or powers that be
For your authority, no being can defy
The lord, there is no one as he.

In his hands, is joy, love and peace.
I shall forever bask in his embrace.
Forever anxious for nothing, my heart shall be at ease.
I live not by my being, but being in his grace.

BOOK REVIEW: Spiritual Make Up

Author: Uchenna Okwara Hillprieston
Publisher: Writer’sHouseHQ
Pages: 40
Reviewer: Abokhai Osione

After reading this book I literally felt a wave of relief rush through out my body… I guess that’s what true freedom feels like.

Growing up in a Christian familiy, you get to hear the “holy” requirement of the gospel from allot of perspectives, I believe the most popular we all grew up with is that “if you do what is bad you will go to hell fire!”.  For me, that explanation was as close to home as getting whooped by my parents for breaking a ceramic plate or leaving the house dirty to go and play games outside on a Saturday morning.

However, the difference  between those perspectives and this one is that

“There is Life in these pages“.

Spiritual Make Up :  The Believers Beauty Kit brings the Truth of this victorious life we can live above sin and shame, closer to home. In fact it is so close that it actually begins to feel personal.

Today, many believers with a hunger for God, a burning desire to do His will and please Him are often downcast because of the weight of besetting sins. This often gets them wondering how?!

How do all these awesome spiritual promises about my salvation and victory and new life in Christ even relate to my personal, “real” life?

Trust me I know the struggle, I was there too. But cheer up brethren! There is hope here!

The beauty of this book is that you can hear your mothers voice teaching you in the simplest way how walking in righteousness and purity is as easy as brushing your teeth or taking a shower, or dressing decently. Spiritual Make up is funny yet so True, I often caught myself vigorously nodding in agreement to the simple truths the author so easily gisted out in text as I laughed because of how relatable it is.

The Life of Holiness and purity we the Born Again in Christ are to live is not a tedious one.. Nothing makes that fact clearer like this book. Living victorious and bearing the fruit of the spirit in our everyday life is as fluid as the air we breathe in and out daily without permission or any explanation.

This is by far the most refreshing book for anyone who desires to clear the airways of doubt, confusion and misunderstanding and just have a wonderful and unhindered relationship with Our Heavenly Father, our maker and Husband who loves us so much.

So sit back, grab a cup of tea and try to read this book where people are because I can assure you first hand that from the second page you’d be looking for someone to read aloud to as is the habit of those who love to share true stories that are good.

In The Cage

The news of the free fat forest guard
The humble bird it had as its breakfast
The noise of the resenting jungle dwellers
And the anti-poaching authority
Is a bittersweet jingle for a product you dare not buy.

The parrot that dares spread this ungodly news
Ends eventually enslaved by the freedom in the cage
Singing special songs to the ears of the chief ensconced
In his palatial power-filled pulpit of pains
Inflicting.

You dare not tell thy three brothers what happened
Or the mice and their muse would feast
On your glory
Kiss you with lips of Judas
Deny you as though they truly are Peter’s apprentice
Before big brown fowl crows
A warning that night never loved plain soul

Let these lines stand proof i said it

I will script beauty on tomorrow’s face
I will forge next year into my productivity phase
But just in case I forget to remember to begin
Let these lines stand proof I said it

Time and tide twiddle thumbs
Idly laying languid lessons
We grow and lose our best selves, on our journey to finding us.
Let these lines stand proof I said it

Bet. Everything will make it known. Even
Birds. Twi-twi-twitting, heralding the coming
Birth. Pangs only last the night, no more room to
Let. These lines stand proof I said it

For so long I died to dine with him
For a taste of life and love I sat with him
I rose from that table thorn free
Let these lines stand proof I said it

Such will be history’s song
The stories we paint with every heartbeat
To live to love to give to all
Let these lines stand proof I said it

An army that wins with no casualties
Floating on faith through a storm of uncertainties
Many sick healed would be our reality
Let these lines stand proof I said it

A month is surely time enough
With all five fingers put to work
May it be the one that fulfils it
Let these lines stand proof I said it

Arise and Fall

Standing alone beside the eastern sea
My soul is shocked, so surprised
How the world can truly be

Children arises like the Biafra’s sun
Learning how to pray, to love and live
Hustling and dreaming of a glorious day
But soldiers and men alike are nothing

But blood and dust
And fate wins the final say
So blessed and cursed am I today
To live, to see the prophecy
of the scripture come true

“Man is nothing, but a grass
And all his dreams a rosy flower
The grass grows and withers
And the rosy flower quickly fades”

Standing solo beside the eastern sea
I observe like the Biafra’s sun
How our children both slave and free
Arise and fall

Freedom

I want to be free to live,
A life free from difficulty,
A life with no tragedy

I want to be free to walk,
walk and never be stopped
Free to walk away from that sin that enslaved me,
Free to confront the devil that estranged me

I want to be free to speak,
Oh let my tongue leak, the truth.
I want to be free to spill out words that heal,
Words that plant and uproot futile roots

I want to be free to see,
See beyond diverse challenges,
See an adventure in the midst of peril

I want to be free to smile,
A smile that brightens and brings joy to a troubled mind and uplifts the weary heart

I want to be free to dream,
Dreams that are not assaulted by ferocious nightmares,
Dreams that give the assurance of a bright future

I want to be free to give,
Give without demanding to receive
Free to give myself up, just as Christ did for us

I want to be free to worship,
Acknowledging him who has dominion and lordship

I want to be free to love,
Unconditionally, exclusively and indefinitely

I want to be free to be the creators poet,
Free to get my papers wet,
With blue blood as they surge freely through my pen

I want to be free to write my piece,
Without chaos afflicting my peace

I want to be free to be the “me” that I’m supposed to be,
Not regarding people’s thoughts and opinions of me

I want to be free from pressures,
Free from peer pressures that accelerates my blood pressure
Free from living to measure up and forgetting his “treasure up”

I want to be free from the shadows of my past,
Free to take off this obfuscating mask
I know I committed crimes and crossed lines but I want to be free to bask in his ever redeeming light,
Free to actualize that in Christ, I am worth a Jew’s eye

I want to be free
According to God’s will
Flourishing like the flowers
Gushing with full strength like the waters
And as a tree planted near the rivers whose root spreads across like the garment of a diva

I want to be free expanding in knowledge
thrilling in the realm of possibilities
healing the broken souls with those words gifted from above

So, I desire to be free
Free from the seal of fear and jest
Free from imperfections and wrong decisions
Free the rain of confusion that overwhelms the kingdom on the inside,
Free from the floods of lust that empties grace
And takes away God’s face
I need to be free!
clothed with righteousness on the race
Nurtured on the way
Living to become my very best

You heard it from me!

Hey there, my name is Favour Omeje and I write.

I have known the joys of writing especially wielding my pen to summon words together to tell the love story of ‘the Word’=Christ.

Writing has been to me like lending readers shoes to walk back and forth time to experience what good things, I have experienced in Christ; simply put, writing has become like a kiss and tell story.

Soon enough, I got signed up to the Christ A Poet team where I was given a loud voice to express my Christian experience. It was there that I took a dip in excellence and team spirit. Christ A Poet  Team provided different platforms for people like me who love to read and write to gain writing prowess while telling the Lord’s story in diverse translations. One of such platforms is the Freestyle Friday.

Freestyle Friday is boundless needless to say.

This is how we do it:
We gather virtually on our social media platforms where a theme is dished out; then we all do justice to it using the different forms of literature available to man.

This time, we want you to share in the experience that we have enjoyed exclusively as team mates for years and you don’t have to be committed to us to enjoy this.

Just follow the link and request entry!

Do you love to read?

What about write?

Then you don’t want to miss this fun. You can take my word for it!
