A thing about Faith pt3

On Hindrance
I had earlier begun on the premise that for the believer, faith is natural; its his mother tongue, his lingua franca, his only tongue really, but alas this is not the daily experience of most believers. We normally find ourselves like the man who brought his son to be healed…

Lord I believe, help my unbelief.

The problem of Faith is never the opposition we face, it’s not the mountains or the giants that challenge us in daily life, many times those temptations we fall for, only show that something within us is not quite right. The children of Israel’s problem was never with the mightiness of the Philistines or the multitude of Assyrians, it was always a matter of their current state with their God. So also, it’s not for plenty witches from our villages but that we’ve not settled the fight in us, as has been said; win the battle within and you’ve already won every war without.
‬ I’ll explain the hindrance to faith using the parable of the Sower, the parable goes…

Bros farmer went a sowing and his seeds went every all the where, some on stony grounds, some on the road path, some on thorny ground and some on good soil.

Jesus told us the meaning; the ground represents the heart, the seed represents the Word, the problem was not with the seed but with the ground, the heart is where the Word (and remember faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word) lands, the problem is the system of this world in which we live have been planting stones, rocks, concrete, mines, and every conceivable anti-seed material in our minds and so it has given us a system of thinking, of believing, of seeing things and of responding to things. So powerful it is that even when we get born again our spirits are made perfectly as Jesus is but our minds have to be renewed, that is made anew. Hence Romans 12 says“Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind”, its like saying, now that this land (heart) now belongs to farmer Jesus, go get the Tractor of the Word and overhaul EVERYTHING! Get all the stones, thorns and other junks out of the ground, and remember some of this stuff has gone down so deep, but must all be overhauled, and so that the heart can now become the good soil and receive the engrafted Word and bear fruits.
‬In English what I’ve been saying is; the hindrance to the Faith of God in us is the things we faith in already, she believes if he’s not from her village he cannot be a good husband, so she will leave the Angel from the next village and marry Lucifer dressed in a tuxedo all because he’s from her village. That mindset is a stone in her heart that will choke the Word and make it unproductive. They’ve told him all male from their family becomes asthmatic at a certain age, that it’s a natural hereditary condition in his bloodline, he has swallowed it, asthma will soon be the portion of this blood-bought child of God. He, like the Pharisees have made the word of God of no effect by his traditions (that is by staying with the norms of this un-renewed worlds mindset), the list goes on.

The Cure
The cure to the problem is still the Word. God pours out His spirit of Faith, God pours out His all and already He has but the problem is not God giving, it is us receiving. Like Rom 5 says, “they that RECEIVE the abundance of Grace…shall reign in life”, our mind is cleared of the crazy as we stay on God’s Word from personal study and listening to relevant teachings, so poet or pastor if you don’t have a consistent personal time of study of the Word and of prayer, you can’t receive all God has already given you and you can’t express all that is already within you. This point calls for more but I’ll stop here for brevity sake.

Shout!

Shout it out
Sing it loud
The song of joy
Let your heart embrace the melody of praise
Let your soul be raised
Let your tears be wiped away
For its a new day
And under this ray
Cometh hope
That you may cope
This is the day the Lord has made
So shout it out.

A thing about Faith pt1

Faith for the believer is natural.

As it is natural for our bodies to breathe in air without our consciousness so also it is natural for our spirits to live by faith without struggling. Faith is a result, a result of gaining the kind of knowledge God has. The idea is like watching the hopeful but yet imaginary 2018 world cup final of Nigeria Vs Argentina. Its the 89th minute of the game and still goalless, extra time is called upon and in the 2nd half of the extra time Argentina, through the craft of Messi scores, all the heart of Nigerians have dropped to their small intestines but still the game goes on and from nowhere Mikel Obi shoots a ball equivalent to a lightning bolt and it tore through the Argentine defense and net. Its five minutes more and Nigeria’s morale is sky high, almost palpable, the Christians are ‘tonguing’, the Muslims are ‘chanting’, the Babalawos are ‘Babalawoing’ (like you may have noticed I speak English and Swahiligbo quite fluently). The average Nigerians heartbeat at this time is well over 120 beats per minute, the Super Eagles are shooting and making attempts left, right and center, time is counting down, blood pressure is rising up, and then it happens 10 seconds to go, Nigeria’s newest sign-in from the under 17 squad notices a loose thread in the Argentine defense, he quickly is on the run for a through ball, the ball meets his leg, his leg meets the ball, there’s pitch silence in stadium, the players stands mouth agape, the commentators choke on their words in disbelief, the net rattles, the referee whistles, its all over, Nigeria wins! and history is made again. Strange things happen that night; PDP members hugged APC members, Mark, the dog, wore a suit and bow tie, the Nigerian University gave all its students free ‘Okpa’, everyone’s blood pressure returns to normal, three business women got engaged, like I said real strange things happened that night.
Alright, everybody come back to bible study and lets glean the story for truth, the point being made is this; after watching that match, should a recorded version be played again you would watch it but this time without the high blood pressure, without the anxiety of how it turns out, without the heartbreak when Argentina scores the first goal, why? Because you already know how it ends, you know, something beautiful (at least for Nigeria) happens at the ending, and this knowledge will keep you smiling, such that if someone else, watching it for the first time sits by you, you would tell the person with an assurance, “Don’t worry” (except of course if the person was from Argentina), that assurance based on an inside information is what we call faith, its not a guess or a wish, it is a reality sponsored by a special kind of knowledge.

As has been said Faith is not a leap in the dark, its a leap on the Word, thats it; Faith is the assurance and certainty based on what God has said.

You see when Peter walked on water that stormy night, many people thought he walked on h2o, water, actually Peter walked on the word. The word spoken by Jesus when He said come became the substance on which his foot stepped, for it is not possible to walk on water, you can only walk on the word. That’s why when he stopped looking at the Word, he stopped walking on the word and when he stopped walking on the word, he started walking on water and like we said, its not possible to walk on water, so he began to sink.

In my teenage age I did quite a bit of fasting and was warned by my parents the possibility of Ulcer by my lifestyle. I was hungry for God and fasting was like the only way I knew how, so I kept at it. One afternoon, I felt a sharp pain in my stomach region, and the thought came to me that’s ulcer! I refused to agree, with the pain there I went out of my house and began to run. I ran round my neighborhood till I was drenched in my own sweat, I had rejected it and this was how my faith expressed itself, because I knew sick people don’t run like that, by the time I had reached my house, the ulcer had also it reached its end, I never felt that pain again, till forever. That’s the point my faith to do that was sponsored by a knowledge I had that by His stripes we were healed and if we were healed, we are healed, so I said sick people don’t run like this only healed people do and so because I was healed, I ran like healed people.
Now perhaps you understand more why scriptures says All things work together for they that love God, because God is not just looking at the one minute period of the match where you conceded a goal, He’s looking at the entire match, and He knows you’ll win. So if you catch that sight God has caught, all of a sudden the scripture “Peace that surpasses all understanding…” will become flesh to you, so while everyone is crying for you that you failed that exam, you’re at peace because you know (you have inside information based on the Word) that your end is peace, that no weapon formed against you can prosper. That knowledge from the Word that makes you smile when all are crying, that makes you declare there’s a lifting up when your bank account says you’re casted down, that makes you declare I’m healed, when your body is shaking from a fever like a leaf, that knowledge that is more than information that alters your mood and emotions and makes you rejoice always, that knowledge is what we call ‘RHEMA’: the alive, spoken, for the moment Word and it is that which sponsors Faith.
So you see, that’s why there’s no place in scripture that says that we should pray for Faith, rather the Word says Faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God, that is, when you from the word get inside information of how the match of your life, your business, your academics, your marriage, your tomorrow will end you NATURALLY have Faith. You don’t have to struggle to get it out, it just comes out, as long as the True Word of God goes in, the True Faith of God will come out. This is why throughout the Pauline epistles, he keeps praying that the eyes of your understanding be enlightened, that you may grasp what is the hope of his calling, that you be filled with the knowledge of God and so on, because it is in seeing how God sees, you gain Gods insight to things and are filled with the God kind of faith.

BEAUTIFUL SUBSTANDARD

You ever noticed how adorable the girl looked when she smiled whose face is so freckled or pimpled?

You ever noticed how cute it was watching that poor family happily eat together of the same plate?

To the ladies…

You ever noticed how loving the guy was who never met a single quality on your checklist? Or how handsome the guy looked when he cried?

You ever noticed how simply beautiful that old ignorant woman was who kept talking superstitions with so much confidence and good intents that you couldn’t help but smile?

You ever realized how perfect those scattered eyelashes or uncarved eyebrows can be?

You ever saw how admirable that poor little boy was when he acted out a deed of love?

You ever saw the ease with which little children of different races bonded on first meeting?

Did you ever take a moment to notice…

You see the problem is we think we need to be perfect to be happy, but no, we don’t and we cannot. We don’t need to be perfect to be happy neither can we be no matter how hard we try. The one thing that connects us is the fact that we are humans, we were created to be family. We all hunger for that sense of belonging, and desire love that is real, unconditional and unfailing.

Love is the answer… it is that which binds  us, it is the one thing that can make us stop struggling so hard to belong,  to be noticed and to be considered better than others. It is the one thing that will make us stop jumping into  conclusions,  criticizing and judging others but rather hearing the full story and making fair decisions.

It is the one thing that will keep us from being biased in our dealings with people of varying tribe, race or religion, class or background, political party or mindset.

It is the one thing that will enable us see everyone as who they are-humans- first before what they are!

It will enable us know that we are all equal and that no one is better off because we all fall short..only in different ways.

Love will enable us live happy lives in the midst of imperfections. A life of happiness is the one we live when we keep our lives simple, improving on the things we can do, our strengths and using them in the service of others faithfully.

True love makes a perfect world. It deletes all imperfections and pastes beauty. It  makes a  show of standard, proving neither perfection nor standard to be happiness but rather happiness in substandard is what yields perfection.

However,

True lasting love is not natural. We cannot produce that lasting love by our broken selves but we know one who can because He is whole and He is love.

We know someone who can amend our imperfect world with love because He amends our hearts. It was necessary that he started with our hearts because the brokenness of the world around us is only a reflection of the brokenness of our hearts. He has shed love abroad in the hearts of those who accept his arm of fatherhood.

When He walked on earth as a man called Jesus, we knew Him to live, love and show happiness.

We knew him to have been born in an average home  of a carpenter and his dear wife.

We knew him to see perfection in an old woman who gave a few coins as her offering.

We knew him to see perfection in children of different backgrounds.

We knew him to see perfection in a woman who the society had condemned.

We knew him to see perfection in a disciple and friend (Peter) though impulsive and undecisive..

We knew him to see perfection in crying women who had lost their brother, his friend.

We knew him to see perfection in a short “sinful” taxcollector.

We knew him to see perfection in a  man who died a criminal beside him on a cross.

He, Jesus can give us the ability to truly love. He can give us the ability with which we can heal our broken world. He came, died and rose so that all who believed in this could be one with Him, partake in his nature and have him as their representative before God, he came to give us his nature of eternal life and love.
