Enough Said

Long way from the first—uncomfortable tennis
Never duck a smash—millisecond prayers
Emotions are just weather—we have martyrical ancestors
Life tests us—but He gave us teachers and pastors
I learned to spot prophets and to recognize apostles
Long way from the first—now I can make salt too

The Bible is a multiyear calendar and love letter
I invite every eye to the pages of the One Pater
Racing verses to the future
Changing translations, I’m an every word eater
Jesus is The Lord—skip the other options
Scouring sermons and apocrypha for grace applications
The day the Lord has made? We rejoice in all our rations
Hyenas may abound, but The Lord sent enough Lions

I phoenix from the Word—my retaliation is evangelical
Sharper than surgical—redeeming this Chronicle
It’s funny though
Looking back I see the subtitles to some acts too
And my repentance cost God a lot, Boo
It’s why I’d rather die than renounce this gospel
What is man anyway?—except when that man is a son of God too

Professionally me—30+ years experience
Still a child of God—kukutata when I speak in tongues
Yeah I dodge stress—when I fight, it’s to stay rested
The Lord reigns—and this needs to be more celebrated
But for His mercy, who would not have wasted?
Seasons when I’m shaken, but then I am reminded
Jesus is alive, tomorrow will be bested

Jesus is alive, Tomorrow will be bested
Long way from the first—now I know to stay dead
Now I see the Lord—the most highly seated
Jesus is alive, Amen is enough said

Jesus Christ is all I have

I was lost in sin and night,
Till the Lord found me;
From the dark He called me out,
Now I am set free.

No more fear within my heart,
No more shame I see;
For the Lord has taken all,
And has set me free.

When my strength begins to fail,
He is strong in me;
When my heart is full of pain,
He restores my peace.

Not in riches, not in power,
Not in what I see;
Jesus Christ is all I have,
And He’s enough for me.

Christ is all, my everything,
All I need each day;
In the highs and in the lows,
He will lead my way

To the world I will proclaim,
Lift my voice and call:
There is only one true Lord
Christ is all in all.

Love as a Sword

Matrices and Tetris with funds and where they’re needed
Not enough a pause to stop and heave relief indeed
As we proceed
The tiers of tears stack a volume rancid
Jesus be like, “Tag me.”

Murderers and Traitors abroad the land in nooks and heights
Mother asked for success, I’m bored with base human delights
Morning Glory is your Word empowering, and I answer like a sacred thing
For before I ever spoke, I had made a praise offering
Jesus be like, “Tag me.”

Tag me and the Kingdom comes
Love will listen, love will calm
And some cases, love will slam
Whatever the options,
Surrender to his balm, it embalms all the flesh moves
When we show up how He wants, there are gasps too
Exceedingly abundantly,
Are you never not entertained?

Waiter

Lord, I lack the sadness needed to be straightforward
Some who know the facts will shrug like, ‘This Coward!’
But I only send these scream-shots to you
I will alley-oop my cares to you,
Lord, you are calm and veto
Encore, until I’m Phillip’d to a new location

Lord, I lack the angst to call storms a problem
What I ask for Lord is grace to be ardent
Grace to be fervent, you are my extent
Straightened by the Word, I recall when I was hell-bent
And if you weren’t backing us up, we’d be fronting
Joking
And all the whole being eaten while your mercy kept us breathing – Ahhhhh

Lord, I…
Look to you when I count my trophies
Souls you snatched out the fire
How can coals be riches?
I rely on your plan, but this path is treacherous

Niel,
Learn to close your eyes and let the silence permeate
Babies bring immense joy, but they’ll make you wait
Now relate, to how you ghost and resurrect at your behest
If I’m patient with my kids, you should copy and paste
Love them like I love you
Sacrifice and pray too
Let no taste deceive you
Let your mercy shine through
And when they annoy you, while saying they love you
Do that thing that I do
Give their good a good zoom

And wait…

Lord, I lack the nonchalance for this
Then feel; walk the storm and let the water mix
I told you long ago that My grace is more than enough for this
Ha!
Watch and pray and do not faint to this
The joy has developed so you have all the strength to love through this

Diss
Oh! to slash my way through all of this
But I know your way is better, so I’ll wait for it
Cook this story how you please
Ease, never was among your promises
After all, you’re with me land, air or seas
You send your word and Ctrl-A-Del disease
And you know the whole path from the start of each
I will wait, Lord, your whisper is enough wings

IT IS NO LONGER I…BUT CHRIST

Even though I was relegated
A high transfer fee was paid
To bring me into this new club

Christ celestial club
THE KINGDOM OF GOD.
A new heart and new spirit is given me

I love this Jersey, I love it here
The seasons are blissful forever.
Thank God it is no longer I
But Christ who purchased me.

GOD IS SATISFIED ( Watchman Nee ‘The Normal Christian Life’ )

What do you know about eternal glory,
Immortal celestial glory?
Have you been to heavenly Jerusalem?

Have you read of the MOST HOLY PLACE?
Have you heard of the everlasting God?
Do you know the Holy High Priest?

His blood is enough for the family reunion.
In Christ our firstborn and lord,
Eternity, heaven and earth are but specks.

Which Way

The broad way is tempting.
So spacious, it feels liberating
This disguised bondage
The broad way seems like the logical option
The right answer, The convenient choice
The broad way is the new cool, the celebrated path

And the narrow way seems too lonely
Not wide enough to walk in properly
So I’m always stumbling
Falling head over heels
Trying to keep up with God
Looking up to religion
The author and finisher of my misery
The tormentor of my soul
On this middle ground, my body is in Canaan and soul in Egypt.

I make choices that betray my words
I take steps that draw me back
I’m a little bit of both
But not quite of any
What do you call light with a dash of darkness?

I was on the brink of desperation
Ready to resignation to fate
Surrender to my mistakes
Let myself go
Then He spoke to me, reminded me of what He had said
That His love was louder than my drowning voice
That His grace was stronger than my weak resolve
His Word outweighed my will
His promises infinitely greater than my grave mistakes.

Nothing compares to the safety net of His love
That He would never leave me
He’s right there with me
Not shaking in anger, but extending his grace
That saves me from the sinking sand of religion
In His grace I find strength
To overcome, to live His life
to take a sharp turn off the broad way
to the road less travelled
The path paved by His sacrifice alone

So in life or death
In sickness or health
In my lowest or my highest
I rest easy because
Nothing compares to the promise I have.

Man With The Mic

I fear for the man with the microphone
He must speak that which was spoken to him
But does he listen only to speak to the crowd
Can he listen enough to listen while he speaks

I wonder at the woman with the microphone
Laid out in beautiful worship before her Lord
Does her feet still know the grounds of this world
Will this dance of transcendence translate or transform

I fear and I wonder at the man I could be
Microphone in hand, driven by more than I can transmit
I pray that my eyes and heart never know another Lord
That I never be left on my own with a microphone

I wonder at the people we will be, microphone in hand
Telling of his love, revealing to all what they need to hear
More than words we can describe yet we raise a sound
So I pray with the microphone in our hands only Him will be heard
