i GOT skillz! … (so WHAT!) part 2

Ok I know it’s been a while since I pasted the first article on this topic and I’m absolutely sorry. Today we are going to start handling concepts I merely brushed over in the last episode and I will love for you to follow intently as we delve deep into these waters to find truth and better understanding towards greater expression of our God-given talents.

PURPOSE

If you read the last article on this piece you would agree that I did talk about this but in the general sense. Hence I said

…whatever talent(s) you are gifted with has two
ultimate purposes which include to further
better our world and to bring glory to God
(Revelations 4:11;Romans 8:19).

This is true in all cases but the angle I want to hit this would be from a more specific standpoint. They say if the purpose of a thing is not known abuse is inevitable. This I have come to find out is very true if not an absolute. This makes me to understand that lack of defined purpose or ignorance of defined purpose is proportional to little or no productivity. This is the plague that our 21st century world is burdened with. We complain of how so much is going wrong and no one seems to be doing anything about it, so we are ignorantly conned into thinking the problem is one of roles (people not doing what they are supposed to do) instead of the faulty foundation of purposelessness we chose to build our lives on. This problem may not be one that is generally accepted but it has eaten deep into the cores of our very social structures that it can no more be ignored.

So then what is Purpose:

reason for existence: the reason for which something exists or for which it has been done or made
Microsoft® Encarta® 2009. © 1993-2008 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

For as much as I know this is true. However, it is quite disturbing that this topic receives as much neglect in our present generation. You see we are able to master technology and we know what to use for what but we seem totally unaware of the purpose of our own existence and we don’t seem a bit perturbed or bothered.

Let me try and put it this way, every part of your body has a purpose and by that I mean a specific use or contribution to the sustenance of your body. Now, does it make sense that all these parts would be put together ever so perfectly for no just cause or as I would like to say no defined purpose? I doubt that.

The same goes for your unique set of natural endowments or talents. You may not know this or you may not agree totally with my thesis but you can do what you can do for a certain, very specific purpose. You see, the world is a system much like your human body. It has many parts of which you’re one and though not all parts can be seen on the outside, every part plays very important roles that make the system whole and effective. You are not like everyone else. You have your unique set of abilities and your unique goal to reach using those abilities. This in essence means that not every Tom, Dick and Harry that can sing well should end up on a stage as a rock star. This is not a function of fate alone but of desired purpose. Get this straight God created you to achieve a goal and your talents they are only tools you’re going to require in fulfilling that all important goal for which you were created in the first place.

This is very important for you to understand ‘cos no matter how good your intentions are if you are operating outside the grid lines God set for you in the blue prints of His master plan for your life you’d be doing a whole lot of wrong to this world and not even know it.

I know you’ve got the talent but with that comes a responsibility to not only discover this uniqueness about you but to also know why and what goal you are meant to achieve with them. A friend mine said

“the difference between the employee and the employer is that the employee knows how but the employer knows why

I AM CHRIST

I saw Christ sometime ago in England
Man was on a well cut designers suit
His cuff links and kerchief suits
The accentuation of the rich fabric soothes
He was slick and sharp looking
Shoes glittered like tiny stars in the heavenlies
A perfect match for his suave manners.

I saw Christ some time ago in Detroit
He was on denim jeans and a large polo
His shoes brought hallelujah to my lips
Casual sneakers with canvas toes cap
With sequin detail and metal stud trim
His watch of course was blings blinking
Perfect for a street preacher

I saw Christ sometime ago in Nigeria
He was on blemish free agbada
Distinctively wide shouldered gown
Flowing in dignity
With each raise of the hand comes style
His cap pointed at the apex with base V-shaped
Perfect for incarnating the spirit into folk’s lives

I met Christ sometime ago in Congo
He was hungry and tired
His stomach was the size of a pregnant lass
His neck was the size of the giraffe’s
Although black his skin was transparent
His large eyes sunken and moist
His hair curly from unkemptness

I am Christ
I wouldn’t join my body with a slut
‘cause that’s breath-choking illegal
I wouldn’t be caught wearing pieces and strands
‘cause that’s heart-wrecking erroneous
Fallacies will be far away from my lips
Swear words, coarse and dirty jokes alike
‘cause my words are life and double edged
I wouldn’t be caught nodding on Drake’s beats
Nor twisting to Beyounce’s tunes
My playlist would have nothing to do with Trey songs
‘cause I live only to glorify God and impact positively.

I am Christ
I live with that consciousness
So I eat like Christ would , silently
I speak like Christ would, deeply
I act like Christ would, graciously
I smile like Christ would, amazingly
I dance like Christ would, stylishly
I preach like Christ would, radically
I love like Christ would, unconditionally
I share in Christ’s suffering , steadfastly
