I have so long thought about this to me it’s no longer news
How could I succeed if all I have is a retrospective view?
Why should I complain when I so willingly stay glued
To the same thoughts, the same actions, the same words, the same friends I once knew
How could I expect a different result if I couldn’t change my perspective and view
If I can’t conceive and believe I’ll never achieve says Napoleon Hill reference Google
So I guess someone here has been just like me
I know you try so hard I’m sure it’s a hard place to be
But before you take one more step as you write your own history
Give me a moment to transform your beliefs with my poetic mastery Continue reading

WORSHIP: A new view!

Worship ain’t just what we think it is.

You see it’s not about songs with a certain beat or a lot of names you’ve crammed from the bible; well it goes way deeper than that. It’s an expression of something that even the brightest minds cannot fathom. It finds its roots in a unique love relationship that can only exist between a man and God. Although it may be expressed in different ways such as music (Psalm 98, Psalm 69:30), way of life (Job 1:8), offering (1 Kings 3:3-4), poetry as well as prayers but none of these expresses the entity of this ambiguous term. Hence, to get a better understanding it will be wise to refer back into its roots, its source.

PENSPEAK 2014

Every once in a while we as humans are challenged, not by any one but by our very own selves. We are challenged by our own ideas, dreams, plans and hopes to break out of the norm and do something outrageous, exciting and in most cases bigger than ourselves. This I believe is the greatness God has innately placed in each and every one of us calling out for freedom and expression. If we cage this longing, if we hold back in a bid to stay safe in our comfort zones, we do not only withhold our talents and amazing visions, we hold others too and we starve the world of a little more of God.
The vision of the Christ-a-Poet Team started out as a blog for inspiring as many as possible through an assortment of rhymes and literary master pieces and by October this year, this vision would have run successfully for two years with outcomes beyond expected and an ever growing community of followers. This in itself is a ground breaking testimony and all the credit goes to the Lord God Almighty.
However, in this season God has laid in our hearts a new step to take in the propagation of His word in our own special way. In the simplest way put I’m referring to Spoken word. We seek to harness our talents not only on-line but also with people we can see and directly communicate with. This project is called PENSPEAK and by the grace is aimed at reviving our world, one word at a time. Currently, the program is to go nationwide in Nigeria and to be hosted in Universities across the nation. The maiden edition is to hold at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka campus!
The theme of this edition is REVELATIONS. Frankly speaking, that sounds really cool, but beyond that one most important things God wants to achieve in our lives is the way we see things. A dear pastor once said that you don’t see things the way they are but by the way you are. This points to the fact that your overall view has a whole lot to do with your personality, character, decisions amongst other things all of which God is very interested in. When God makes known to a man his way of seeing things or doing things it is commonly referred to as a “revelation”, hence the theme of the program. We seek to use these talents God has given us to shape not only the minds of our audience but ours too in the course of this project.
So far plans are going great and the need for sponsorship (as in funds or more directly “money”) cannot be underestimated however writers, artists, musicians, dancers are already at work to bring their very best to this year’s edition of Penspeak. Publicity has already begun on twitter using these hash-tags: #REVELATIONS 2014 #PENSPEAK 2014. Also, on our facebook page: The Christ A Poet Team. Radio and printed publicity will only take place in the environs of Enugu state to minimize cost and maximize potential.

ONE CHANCE!!!

In the places no one can see
A cry calls forth like a Sultan’s kakaki
For expression for light it seeks
It calls from without and within
And I could stretch and stretch and stretch
I could even tear my bones out of my flesh
And reach out I would with even greater vigor reach out I would
You see, I already kissed my past goodbye
Told folks of my destination heights
My starting point the skies
Big plans big dreams big sights
All crumpled up to what now seems to be a lie
Cos no matter how hard I try
To touch or take a glimpse perhaps find out what my future is like
Beyond this heavily clouded skies of my present
The rays of its brightness would always stop short of my nail’s ends

To let go of my dreams and live in the past
To force a smile as fate hands me the defeated card
Yet cry in the rain wondering what should have come to pass
To point an accusing finger at my successful counterparts
To curse my luck and find an excusable fault
To stop trying and give up remains the easy part
Alas!!! I’ve come too far to let go now
If I could live through the absence
Of mama and papa cuddled over my cradle watching me do my nonsense
Their love teaching me the value of life’s essence
If I could learn to laugh till my ribs hurt
If I could find satisfaction in lack and wealth though poor
If I could find a friend when a brother was too much to afford
If I could beat the odds and survive the storm
If then I didn’t give up or surrender to the norm
I know I can breakthrough if given a chance but one

Though in this deep struggle for the top
Yet of this truth I’m so sure
That if given just about a chance I can conquer all
I wish I could scream for help from the rooftops
But I’m so filled with ravaging hunger and malnutrition queued up
Preoccupied with survival so I don’t notice as my mentality demons and my environment gang up
They struggle to drown out my cries my hope
If only one could hear my stifled moan
In the places no one can see
A cry calls forth like a Sultan’s kakaki
For expression for light it seeks
It calls from without and within
Perhaps someone will hear and give heed
Whether he be the eagle I seek or a mocking jay
Then that chance I need may come someday
I know I am just another orphan today
But if given a chance I know I will prevail.
