Last time, I said that anyone who comes to God must first believe that He exists and that He rewards people who diligently seek him.

I pointed out in my personal Strong’s amplification that to seek God was to worship Him. Today, I’d like to share more treasures I found in the book of Psalms.

Psalms 9 vs 10.

“And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee for thou, LORD hast not forsaken them that seek thee” (KJV).

Let me translate;

And they that know God’s character will rest in Him because God has never failed people who worship him, by taking a stand of faith in Him.

You might also want to hear more words of David that will tickle you silly. You find those words in 1 Samuel 17 vs 45.

“Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield; but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel whom thou hast defied” (KJV).

The name of the LORD is the character and the person of God. David had known by experience the faithfulness of God for himself personally. The LORD had delivered him from the paws of lions and bears and he saw the Philistine as one of them.

A friend of mine says that faith is not something we do but a result we get. According to him, when we get into the knowledge of God, we trust Him automatically. He says faith is fundamentally a result of the knowledge of God we have; this knowledge is found in the Word.

However, I’d like to add that our faith cannot be made pure if our faith is not tried. James 1 vs 2-4:

“My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing” (KJV).

David knew fear alongside other emotions in the face of fearsome lions and bears while caring for his father’s flock in the wilds. Those were the testing of his faith in the LORD his shepherd. When his faith took a good form, he knew the LORD as Jehovah his Raah.

The point I am trying to make is that inasmuch as we should be well versed in the Word of God concerning our lives, we should not get comfortable with having just a mental knowledge of God. We should permit ourselves to go through the practical classes, and these classes are painfully harsh. The good news is that he would not allow a test that we cannot pass to come on us. God is fair, He doesn’t give a fifth grader an undergraduate math test.

I have been telling Father lately that I didn’t want to know mere theories of Him. I am so not letting go of Him until the LORD leaves me a legacy. When I say legacy, I mean until the altar of our relationship is built upon a legit experience. And that I know can only be done by faith.

EVERYDAY JESUS FAITH SERIES (PART TWO)

First, I would like to say that faith is a stand you are willing to take because you believe. Faith is a stand. I would also like to tell you that such a stand is worship. It is worship because worship is yielding to the voice of God. The Bible says:

“But without faith, it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him”.

Let me put this in my own words:

But without faith, it is impossible to entirely satisfy God because anyone that wants to worship God must believe that He exists and that He never misleads or disappoints them that act on the fact that He exists, those ones who listen to Him.

However, there are times when you’d be acting on the Word of God and His instruction and it would look as though you were silly or you find yourself beginning to doubt its authority. You might even be angry and offended in your spirit.

Let me show you how I have learned to stand by faith in the worship of the spirit God, Psalms 4 vs 4 & 5:

“Stand in awe, and sin not:

Commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD”- KJV.

In other words,

“Be angry, and do not sin;

Ponder in your hearts on your beds, and be silent, offer right sacrifices, and put your trust in the LORD”. ESV.

The right sacrifice is a stand of faith. Worship is trusting in the truth of God with one’s heart no matter what happens.

EVERYDAY JESUS FAITH SERIES (PART 1)

On the 27th day of January, the Lord impressed it on my heart to delve into the book of Psalms- he was preparing me for something. I was already studying the Bible beginning from the Torah and believe me, I was mining gold from it.

The thought of getting to the book of Psalms was electrifying, to say the least. The Bible says that the entrance (unfolding) of the Word is light and gives understanding to the simple. I knew that I was someone who most people would describe as plain and easy to understand- not like I wanted to be complicated and mysterious. I was excited about the Word which I had been studying more this year to make me shrewdly prudent in my dealings.

God does not want us to be simple. A simple man is someone who is open-minded towards people and things. The only thing we should be open-minded about is the Word and the only one we should be open-minded towards, is the Spirit of Christ and He is found in the hearts of believers; never doubt him.

So without further ado, Psalms 1 vs 1:

“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, Nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful”. KJV.

I love how Strong’s Concordance renders his verse:

You will be happy if you don’t follow the advice and the prudence of the world, nor become grounded in the approach to life of the guilty (those who have not accepted the love of the Father), nor marry the ideas of the unbelieving, the faithless.

Before I go ahead to summarize this translation of mine, I’d like to say a few things:

The people of the world have a form of wisdom. They are careful about certain things. If you want to be happy, do not be like them. Be neither careful nor careless, but be free from the grip of cares.
Those who live in guilt of both the things they did and the ones that they didn’t do have an approach to life unique to them, one of which is that they try so hard to impress God resulting in constant fear of both the known and unknown. You are already in the love of the Father, so do not stoop so low to be like them.
The unbelieving and the faithless have ideas and logic that may seem sound. But they will leave you drained. They trust their senses, the things that the eyes can see and the mind can comprehend, and they mock and ridicule you if you act and speak on the impulse of the Spirit. They make fun of you and tease you, saying that your decisions are silly. Some of them may be in the church; they pray as you do and fast too but would shun you if you ever say that God told you a thing. They’d tell you to prove it. Do not be like that because the just shall live by faith.

Finally dear saint, you will be happy if you walk in love, stand by faith and sit in the unshakable authority of heavenly places, in God’s presence.
